I love Starpicks rates. Just shaved several $100 off the cost of my stays this weekend in TPA & ONT.

I love them too, when they offer them where I need to be, when I need to be there. Unfortunately for this weekend's stays in California, they aren't of much help. And there's nothing in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area showing up for the weekend after this one, when we'll be there for a couple of nights. I'm hoping they'll offer something next week. Otherwise, we'll just have to find a good regular rate.

Of course he was booked on two separate tickets but what do I care, a customer is a customer, no matter how they get to us.

How does one get the number to a CO station at a particular airport?

Marriott rarely, if ever, gives you much help getting to the next level, especially Platinum. However, if you don't have the Marriott Visa, you might consider signing up, since it comes with a few nice perks, including a 15 night bonus that you get every year you have the card. It makes Platinum attainable with 60 nights instead of the normal 75.

I contact UA to see just how late, late is. Plane won't be arriving until 12:16am and the man is checked into the IAH redeye 12:35am departure and has been EUAed. I asked UA if they are going to rebook him and the customer planner says, no way, he is on two separate tickets and is on his own. So I rebook the man via SFOEWRCDG on our first morning flight. I contact his wife with the new flight information.

The man was left checked in because you never know if he's going to make it. I call UA once again and his flight hasn't made up any time but we still leave him checked in. At 12:20 we unseat him and give away his F Class seat to the next person, which happened to be a non-rev.

At 12:23 we close the aircraft door and we see the man running down the hallway, clutching his shoes, belt and small handcarry. We re-open the door and advise the man that his seat had been given away but he can sit in a nice aisle coach seat.

I have no idea how he made it from the UA gates thru security to our flight in under 8 minutes but I'm glad he did.

Gotta love UA for following those rules and customer service be damned.

SFOgate - you are a travellers definition of a true angel. I bet that guy would kiss your feet if he had the chance!

Looks like Marriott is back on the ebates website (along with air france, alamo, alasks, avis, best western, budget, delta, holiday inn, etc.). Gotta love earning $5.00 per reservation from the .com club and xx% cash back on hotels, air, and cars from ebates.

If anyone isn't a member and wants more info (or just wants to hook me up with the referral cred when you join), PM me. ^

If FT gets a hold of phone numbers, Scott might well have a conniption or five.

IMO, there is not enough difference between Marriott Gold and Platinum that I would worry about it too much. I guess that the only real benefits from the step up that I can see are the EEOs (and I am one who does not usually have a lot of use for weekend nights and gives the coupons away).

Marriott Platinum also gets better rooms when there aren't enough to go around to all the Platinums and Golds, and the Platinum arrival gift. If you stay a lot, those 500 point Platinum Arrival Gifts add up quickly. They've also upped the Platinum elite bonus to 50%, which has really padded my Marriott Rewards account this year.

Maybe I'll try them one more time in BWI.

Like all brands, depends on the location. I can give you a list of really fabulous Hilton properties, and a list of really awful ones. And I have the same lists for Starwood and Marriott as well. It really depends on the hotel.

Paris? Luscious? The stuff on the sidewalks of Paris that the residents refuse to pick up (le dog$hit, IIRC) is more luscious than her.

I'm sure -- but sfogate clearly stated that the pax she helped had called the HNL station. I guess it's small enough. Can you imagine calling the EWR station for help? Talk about

I could be wrong, but I thought CO gave most of those gates back a few years ago. From what I remember, UA realized how convenient those gates were since you could walk to them and started bullying CO via DIA to release them.

CO leases them out to F9.

You going to be in the LA area this weekend?

They are pretty easy to find. Google "Continental Airlines" and the name of the city where the airport is located.

 indeed. I'm sure some outstations are like bars in that they have their regulars that have a pattern. It wouldn't surprise me if fozz had the SAN phone numbers for UA and CO.

Granted I didn't try too hard just now, but I tried to find a number for PHL's CO station and got nothing but references to the general reservations line.
