I am in the market for a 42" LCD TV. Should I go with Sony, Samsung, or Sharp?

I prefer Sony. No matter what you get, you have to adjust the set as the factory defaults are crap. I went cheap and used THX adjustment stuff that come with many DVD's that have THX certification.

I'm leaning towards a Samsung over Pioneer and Sony. I dropped Sharp after hearing and reading some abnormally high quality problems.

I am a fan of Samsung. I think you get the same quality as Sony for less. The Koreans put together some good TVs. I've seen the Sony equivalent of my TV, and I was not impressed.

+ 1, the sonys tend to be over priced and I am a big fan of samsung TVs.

Is the NYP a tabloid rag?

Sony and Samsung use the same lcd panel. The electronics that drive the panel is what's different. Sony has really bad factory settings. When you tweak a high end Sony and a high end Samsung, the Sony comes out slightly ahead. I'm pickier than most people (hench an XBR model) so I notice subtle differences that most people don't care about. If it was a price issue with me I would clearly have chosen Samsung as it was the other brand I was very seriously considering.

If you catch things right the price difference isn't that much. I got my Sony on sale and the diffrence was only $50 to the simular Samsung. Got a huge amount of OP miles too. :)

I am running out of desk space. Too many models

QF-A380
NW-A333
BD-A320
AC-773

I am a sucker for buying the model out of the DF catalog.

Our 42" is a Toshiba and I like it fine.

We got a 32" 1080 Sony for the bedroom and it is more than fine. We have a high-end home theater store in Houston (I think they are in DFW too) Modia, that has an outlet store near my office. I got the Sony there for about $300 less than Best Buy.

(Oh, and they didn't physically stop me from leaving the building like Best Buy does to some boxers. :p)

I kind of like the Sony deal because Sony components are "aware" of each other.

Who has an all-in-one remote? Comments, complaints, smart remarks?

After four more bourbons en route, DTW-MEM and lunch at MEM (with another employee discount), life is really, really good.

The new stadium is nice. Probably too nice, but the grime will return soon enough, I'm sure. Wheelchair seats turned out to not be a problem, so that's good. Beer is expensive, which is bad but not surprising.

I have the game on TV, make sure and wave. :D
