Yeah..I think I mis-read it. :o

Very high on the list of stuff that will get bought upon resumption of positive cash flow is a new machine of some kind. I'm starting to think that a new desktop with a nice huge screen is the way to go, and then I should get a netbook for when I don't want iTunes or Photoshop. I'm also thinking that AppleTV might be worthwhile because I could at that point stop buying DVD seasons and migrate over to downloaded TV.

Or put Vista Ultimate (with the Media Center bits) on the desktop and a video card with HDMI out and you can watch TV straight from the desktop.

But that doesn't help me if I want the TV content to be downstairs with the computer upstairs. My thinking was to have iTunes on the desktop and AppleTV on the TV and be able to watch downloaded season sets of shows via the house wireless. Am I missing something?

Got to love the collective brain trust that is made up of three women here in the PC who are following our flight status online. If you click the "Where is this flight coming from?" link on CO 1774 right now, it shows that our outbound plane is flying in from IAH, with a severe delay, arriving at 10:53 PM… on Friday, April 17, 2009. The plane arrived here last night and has been here at gate D-10 ever since. Yet this group of three, all looking at this, couldn't manage to read that date. And they then went into panic mode, thinking the plane was arriving here at 10:53 PM tonight, which of course means we wouldn't be able to leave here any time before 10:53 PM, and then they panicked and started looking online for a hotel room here in Atlanta… until a certain PC member (me) who had already figured out hours ago that the plane arrived last night informed them that they were overlooking the date on the website.

Good news! The ATL-IAH flight immediately before mine is boarding. Unfortunately they quit allowing anyone to standby for it hours ago, because it's booked and checked in full. So there was never really any hope I'd get on that earlier flight. But the fact that a flight from here to IAH is departing gives me some hope.

Finally made it on the plane! The rain has slowed down at IAH and visibility is improving.

I use a media center extender for that. Works pretty well. Same idea as AppleTV, I suppose, but integrates with media center which means I don't have to deal with iTunes.

There's a few reasons I still book largely NW flights - I'm batting .875 (count in my signature includes tomorrow's segments) as a silver.

Did you point out my favorite signs there? I made the comment to scoow that I know some living animals that can't grow new hair ...

Our younger cat spent a portion of the morning muching on houseplants, which meant that we pulled out the bitter apple plant spray and I doused the plants with the stuff. If you're not familiar with that product, it basically makes whatever you spray it on taste really awful, and deters pets from chewing or eating things they aren't supposed to. The downside is that it's hard not to get it on your hands when using the pump spray bottle. A few minutes ago I grabbed some crackers here in the PC, and despite multiple hand-washings since using the spray this morning, I still had some on my hands. That got transferred from my hands to the cracker to my mouth, and now I can't this nasty bitter taste out of my mouth.

This is the same cat who decided to see if he could climb on the wooden stair railing earlier today, and ended up flying down the banister and landing on his butt at the bottom of the stairs.

I like iTunes - the Vista-style Media Center looks very odd to me, and I try to avoid it. I would seriously consider going all Mac but for my BB.

Sounds like your cat would have gotten along with my most recent cat, which I routinely described as "messed up even by Siamese standards".

I'm computer agnostic but no one's prying my Blackberry away from me either.
