sbm12 and anyone else with a Kindle, do you subscribe to newspapers and/or magazines? If so, how do you like the reading format on the Kindle and do you feel there is anything missing (other than color photos). TIA.

I did the NYT trial just to see. It was actually pretty easy to read. Way better than dealing with the actual paper. The photos were B&W but I never really got much from them anyways.

The "game" was ugly. Just awful. Wife and I remarked that he made it through the first inning 1-2-3 and that things might be picking up for him. And then the second inning happened. Just awful.

Do your cable/sat boxes talk to the thing?

Not right now, but the new system will likely include a tuner card. Truth is that I don't watch much regular TV and I have DVRs on the two TVs in the house anyways so I don't really need the media center to also do that. I could probably benefit from saving the $20/month but that would be another thing to figure out how to set up on the system.

Had dinner at a place that my sister swore was "really good italian" tonight. My regular place (that she's been to a dozen times) runs circles around them. The look on my father's face was classic when I mentioned that. We agreed that we'd just let her think she picked a good place because it is easier than fighting with her about it.

On the plus side, plenty of wine tonight. Time to go sleep it off...

Air Rolleyes is proud to announce its revamp of the European route network, removing almost all prop service and installing fast, somewhat efficient jet service on a bank of Boeing 757-200 aircraft that were sitting on the ground anyway. It was able to reduce costs through the elimination of two prop aircraft and has not passed on a single penny of that savings to you, the flying public.

Thank you for your support and continued .

I'm a Marlins "fan." I use the quotes, since I am not a baseball fan, like I am a pro football fan. I root for the Marlins. This year is a nice surprise.^ But, 5 of their wins have come against the lowly Nationals. They need to face a real team.

Looking forward to reading all of the complaints about how we can't move customers, etc....

Hopefully you bought a bottle or two to drown in the sorries after a week of work!! :D

I have two laptops and a desktop and it is just me. I use the big laptop (17 Inch) for work, I am traveling with the small laptop which is slow as a CO PC internet connection :), and have a basic desktop at home. The later two were cheap buys for $400 or less about 3 or 4 years ago. They have served there time and purpose. Once the small laptop goes I will most liekly go for the MiniTOP.

This is true.

Morning BOX! Off to work!

Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work I GO! (whisling....)

Olton Hall Apr 19, 2009 6:48 am

Morning box. I'm debating if I should make some popcorn now as it appears we may have an entertaining thread brewing today.

Steph3n Apr 19, 2009 7:02 am

hrmmmmmm, I got offered an upgrade and selected my seat.....

The difference between your fare and the First Class fare is only $50.00 USD.
As an Elite member you will automatically be added to the standby list for a complimentary
space-available First Class upgrade. However, if you would like to confirm a First Class
seat now, you may do so by paying the difference between the fare you purchased
and our First Class fare for this trip.

Being a CO peon elite I went for it so I could get the seat I wanted, however I have to say there were probably open seats beyond all elites onboard because it said "2 Available" and when I got to selecting seats I could pick from 8!

Oh well, I could have gotten it anyway, CO is using this for revenue generation obviously, can't say I blame them.
Now instead of getting a random seat I pay a bit more and pick the one I want early, which would not normally happen for me.

I don't think that one will become too crazy. A rogue GA got caught and will suffer for it (I hope). I cannot see anyone here getting too bent out of shape over it, other than a couple "I knew CO was trying to screw me" type posts.

Just curious, but was the fare difference actually $50? That would generally mean that you were on a B or Y fare to begin with and should have had an instant upgrade. If they are selling upgrades from L fares as "only $50 different from F" that is a smack in the face to folks who expected the EUA system to work normally.

Looks like we're headed up to the Bronx to see the new stadium today. Not sure if we'll actually enjoy the game, but it will be nice to see the stadium.

Steph3n Apr 19, 2009 7:13 am

No I was on a T fare and got the $50. Being as only 2 were selling, into R class, I am pretty sure all elites unless booking walk up last minute would have been upgraded.

Well then the upgrade buy-up scheme is operating completely differently than it was announced as operating. That sucks. Glad you got the upgrade, but something fishy is going on with the system.

I was partially doing it to see how it worked, $50 wasn't much.
and it booked up into R. Now it did NOT have an upgrade for purchase on the 2nd flight but I am on the list, so there is some trigger point for it offering, There are 3 seats and I am low on priority, I won't get an upgrade but the back of the bus got cleared out and I will look to have an entire row :)
