She is techonologically challenged and needs to have a Web presence...nothing crazy, not like live bookings or anything. The most important thing is that when she needs edits to the site made, she needs them done quickly...this is the same woman who double-clicks twice because the computer is not performing fast enough to suit her. Travel agency website with marketing materials and in her words updates every 60days. By her own admission she is technically inept and "wants to do nothing on the website - I want to call someone and have it fixed." And no new media either - she has no conception of a blog and does not have the discipline or patience for same.

So I'm seeing EWR-SEA B fare for $286 one-way, non-refundable during Memorial weekend. May not be a deal for some of you but I've been checking the fares and have been getting $409 one-way on a B fare before checking today.

It is blusterly in EAR. The flight in was bumpy to put it mildly. Great FA - I'd flown with her before. Great Lakes makes an announcement prior to boarding that you MUST shut off your cell phone and all portable electronic devices before boarding the aircraft. One lady (She wasn't but we'll call her that for now) must not have heard and was using hers on board. FA made the announcement onboard three times. She then went over to the lady and said very sweetly "ma'am I need you to end your call before we can move forward." The lady didn't stop talking and flat out ignored the FA.

FA again very nicely but firmly said "ma'am would you please shut off your phone; we need you off the phone." The woman wrapped up her call and started snapping at the FA "why did you make me get off the phone when the door is still open?" The FA explained it was Great Lakes policy; the woman snapped "I fly every week and I can have my phone on; I know the FAA regulations - is this just a Great Lakes thing? (Uh, yeah, that's what she just said!!!). After a few minutes of the FA being sweet, she finally said to the pax "would you like to speak with the captain about it"? This shut the woman up but she then got in a final "I'll never fly this airline again" - oh, we hope not!!!

Then water service came. FA: Would you like an ice water ma'am? Woman barks back "water, no ice" . FA: The water is warm; would you like me to melt the ice so that you can have cold water? Woman to FA "I said no ice"!

This woman was mid; the rest of us (which was perhaps seven of us) were in the back - weights and balances you know ;) and we told the FA she was doing great and that it wasn't her. She said the Kearney people were always really nice and the guy behind me said "She's not from Kearney".

Maybe she was just angry about going to EAR :D

Oh HELL yes. Just went over to the Starwood forum and saw the announcement for their upcoming free weekend night promotion. I plan on getting some serious mileage out of this one — should allow me to take care of most of our summer/early fall weekend travel with free nights at Starwood properties without having to redeem any points.

And Hilton's got a 1,000 point/night bonus that just started too.

I'm loving this recession when it comes to point and mile bonus offers.

I'll visit one of these once the current Hyatt promotion finishes at the end of April - I'm earning more than 8,000 Hyatt points and getting three days of airport parking on an inexpensive single-night stay tomorrow ^.

Ditto, depending on what you need done and if I can do it. The term "web guy" covers a huge swath of  that could be needed.

She is already hosted on godaddy, and has a local design guy that she is not satisfied with. She'd like an agency info/bio page, a few partner links, a group page with concise information on each trip which is linked to a larger description, a bridal registry function, scanned thank you letters and such on a testimonial page, a civic involvement page since she does lots of community work, a form for her newsletter whose info bounces to her existing email (recieve by email or postal and get a list of specials via email only) and relevant articles/news page. She is sticking to the idea that she should only need content updated about every 60 days, and rarely more often than that. ~10 designed pages, maybe 20-30 doc/pdf/pub files available for download. She is trying to make it more informational than a communication tool. If anyone is up for that, PM's are welcome. I'll pass on her contact info and y'all can negotiate from there.
