Yeah, CA is a bit screwed. But they have no one to blame but themselves and I only see it getting worse in the short term.

I'm glad I got out when I did.

I left CA about 17 years ago. I had the chance to go back 12 years ago. Even with a huge $ increase I could not make sense of it. And I was in NJ at the time so it was not like I was coming from a place with a low cost of living.
