No points, no miles, but free: EWR-FLL for grandma's 80th birthday.

So, what are the dates and on which of them will you be free so we can schedule the Box Mini-Do?

Tentatively 6/13-15, morning flight down with an after lunch flight home. The 14th is family night for the birthday. Night of the 13th works for me.

I'll just miss you - I'm flying down to FLL 6/12-6/14. I will be attending a wedding over on Marco Island though, so no mini-DO for me. :(

ALCO's epic failure part II

OH BTW NW WBC = EPIC FAIL FOR NO HOT BREAKFAST.

The party flight arrived and I marched with the group back to the CL. I was pleased to see despite having left 30 min ago, that my name for the shower had not been called. We got food which consisted of scrambled eggs and various cold meats and cheeses. I drank champagne NV, and contemplated stealing a bottle or four.

I was with XYZZY, Dan, J.Ed, and we proceeded through Customs and immigration with no problems. We walked to the train station outside the airport and ALCO with his friends were handing out the most rancid beer on the planet. It was called "maximator" and it was 11.2 ABV. Personally, it wasn't drinkable at all and should have been called " in a can."

I went with ALCO when we arrived in the center of AMS to ummmm get a coffee at a local coffeeshop. After several hours of coffee and having fun with J.Eds phone we proceeded to the hotel where we met up with Rolov.

Poo. No golf either.

You're flying into FLL for Marco? Picking up people to do the drive with?

Yeah, no time for golf this time. I'm kind of  about the whole trip, but what can you do.

We're flying in to FLL because there are no late evening flights out of RSW on Sunday and I don't want to spend an extra night down there. The drive from FLL to Marco is under 2 hours, so I can't complain. It's a shame CO no longer flies to APF.

DXB-SIN SQ C
SIN-DPS SQ C

DPS-SIN SQ C
SIN-CDG SQ C A380
CDG-JFK AF C

I'm jealous. I couldn't get the A380 to work in. By the time I got to it, the fare was being pulled. I was able to get JFK-CDG(AF)-HKG(AF)-DPS(CX)-BKK(TG)-CDG(AF)-JFK(AF). I would have been all over the 380. This is what I get for flying yesterday and slacking on FT this morning. :(

That DPS trip would be awesome (especially the two A380 flights, including EK F), but I don't think I can swing the cash right now. :(

I picked one up but i'm not sure if i'm going to keep it. Do we know if this is refundable or do I need to make up my mind within 24 hours?

I guess there is always the Maldives.

We're supposed to do both HKT and BKK. If I go to Thailand, I'd like to do BKK as well as HKT. Right now we're on the BKK-LAX flight which I'm excited about. I'm not making any decisions at the moment, but I do appreciate all the feedback.

Yet Another Reasons Why Monday's Suck

Mrs. MBM3 tripped over one of our dog gates and landed funny, dislocating her ankle while also breaking her tib and fib. It was an awful experience! She is home and resting while awaiting an appointment with a specialist. Luckily we were able to grab an appointment to see the head of the foot/ankle department of the Cleveland Clinic (thanks to a well placed referral from a friend).

Some  moments:

1) The admissions person asking for copayment minutes after we arrived and well before she was stabilized. Not only was it poor timing, but it gave the impression that they were not going to proceed without it.

2) Same admissions person questioning the fact that we have different last names.

3) I almost hurled while watching them set and wrap her leg. Thank god she was in dreamland for that experience.

I think the last time I did the drive from APF to FLL it was about 90 minutes. You just have to remember to stay awake.

I do regret not hopping on APF before they pulled it, that would have been a cool FM line.

I'm hoping to put together something that actually more resembles a travel guide at some point, but the major landmarks/highlights are all covered in that. The nighttime stuff will come in a post tomorrow.

Very nice start to the guide. ^ Hoping to grab a good fare from CLE to take a look for myself.

OMG! Poor Ms. MBM3. I hope she has been given copious amounts of hard-core painkillers to help her through this.

I remember when my daughter had leg/foot/bone implant surgery a few years ago to correct some congential deformities. She was in excruciating pain for days, and it killed me to see her in so much pain and there was nothing I could do to help her.

I really hope Mrs. MBM3 doesn't have to go through that.

June 13th, somewhere in Broward or Palm Beach Counties. I hope this works out, as monitor is quite high on my list of as yet unmet FTers. :D

The version of the 80th birthday that we're working on is  compared to what we originally had in mind. We were going to either fly her up or have a bunch of us go down there and meet, only to go forward from there to GPT, since my grandmother is a big Biloxi gaming fan. The Grand was once kind enough to deal her a straight flush on Caribbean Stud, which turned out to be a $32K hand. Only recently did she throw out the big fake check. Economics, timing, and people's availabilities all conspired to flush that idea.
