^ to the P Club agent who was able to check in Plus1 for his four flights tomorrow. She had to do each manually (and had no idea why). Looks like his IAH-LAX will clear (the one the phone agent said would have cleared already if he was going to get upgraded :rolleyes:) but LAX-IAH doesn't look too promising.

My mother taught me well. She keeps what I affectionately refer to as "rotating stock" for Christmas. She will buy stuff throughout the year, with someone kinda sorta vaguely in mind. Sometime in late summer, she reviews the pile o'crap and assigns people to the stuff she bought. She traditionally spends Labor Day weekend wrapping Christmas presents.

I, OTOH, do not have a need to give gifts to that many people...but what I will do is read catalogs year-round and buy as needed no matter the time of year. It spreads the bills and also has the lovely side effect of removing stress associated with time. I found two good ideas for my father in SkyMall on the flight to FLL - the sports car mouse, in yellow Corvette, of course. Also, given that he's turning 60, I thought that the leatherbound New York Times from his birthday would be a nice thing to do. And at 15 OP miles to the dollar, I'm a fool not to do it.

I will buy stuff ahead and forget about it :o

We have a gift closet upstairs and that's where I put stuff and hopefully remember it at the right time.

I need to go over my notes and write my complaining thread as related to my flight down on Saturday morning. The PClub agent was nice but was given no support by the cranky helpdesk person, causing us to have to walk to C130 and then back to the club. Not cool. It's not like I want something, because we all got upgraded. I've never seen or heard of a flight from EWR on which three space-A upgrades cleared until that one.

In addition to being full but not oversold and hotter than a Bedouin's underwear, my plane home had no IFE.

I've had either SFO-IAH or IAH-SFO no IFE (and frequently LAX-IAH) - that's a long flight with no IFE which is why I'm always glad to have my own entertainment (other than Plus1 of c:rolleyes:urse )

I'll pass that on; thanks. ^ She frantically organizes and reorganizes the piles of wrapped boxes that are already broken down by person or group of people. The piles of gifts become ornamental pieces that affect the Feng Shui of the house. There are people for whom she buys Christmas presents that she might not see until the following spring, so sometimes there are Christmas presents still visible at St. Patrick's Day. She is not above making last-minute additions to someone's stuff if she sees something that she likes for that person.

I buy from retailers that give miles, and I have four buys: mother, father, fiancee, grandmother. Fiancee's family does pollyanna gifting, and they procrastinate about it. We usually find who we're buying for at Thanksgiving...because, you know, no one likes to get a head start on Christmas shopping. :rolleyes:

I think I might goto Disneyland Paris today... Went to a wonderful Warhol showing at the Grand Palais, essentially all of his best portraits with nary a campbells soup can to be found. Diamond dust is so much more sparkley in person.

I'd do my house in Warhol if I had the money. I found some of the portraits to be amazingly striking - Armani's blue eyes, the color in Garland's, etc...

And seriously, who doesn't want a video wall of 24 screen tests? 4 minute loops of gorgeous black and white film featuring beautiful people.. le sigh.

What speaks even more poorly of it is that my mother had one upgrade left, and tried to use it on herself this afternoon. (She missed...#1 of 1 on the list; how bad is that?) The counter agent in FLL listed her, and did so with a smile. It's the crackpots at EWR that are the glaring problem.
