I don't blame him. We made sure we finished all our meetings last week so we don't need to be anywhere near the masses this week.

I thought that you were going and coming back on the same day?

Thanks for the kind wishes all. Tomorrow is phone call day to some friends that can help me navigate the process. Olton Hall, I have an undergrad in history. With that, some research, and the right district, I can teach all of the normal history classes, and maybe something like ethics, government, stuff like that.

And were I to drop the famed CM moniker, I think I would switch it to what my username is almost everywhere else: DevilMike.

This guy has entirely too much time on his hands.

I find it hard to believe the stories agents tell pax sometimes. Apparently someone on my 6-hour delayed CO61 was told that the plane was delayed because it had to be deiced in Houston before even making it to Newark last night. The plane hasn't been in Houston in at least 3 days.

On the plus side, wheels done at about 6:25 and I made the 6:58 NJT to NYC. I should be in my apartment about 80 minutes after touchdown on public transit and having cleared immigration and customs. Not too shabby.

That would be entirely insane. We're returning to EWR-land tomorrow night. The Metro was pretty crowded this evening, but not nearly as crowded as during a normal rush. The problem was, though, that 80% of the people in it were tourists who had no clue what they were doing. The lines for the ticket machines at Union Station were immense. Thankfully we picked up some SmarTrip cards on a prior visit. I can't imagine what it's going to be like in the morning.

Getting off of the A->C EWR bus the other day the agent told two pax they'd never make their connection and they should go straight to the service center at gate 90. They did. The pax ignored me when I tried to suggest otherwise. I looked at the flight board and saw that the flight was delayed by about 10 minutes. They might have made it.

Catching up on the Box after not being here since early Friday evening didn't take nearly as long as I feared. Good thing lots of you guys were in Europe and not posting.

We took a somewhat spur of the moment road trip up to Asheville, NC for the weekend. While I was getting my car serviced on Wednesday, my partner texted me that he had MLK Day off from work, which he had forgotten. That night at dinner I proposed a weekend road trip, since my flight today wasn't until 4:30 PM. We had a birthday party to attend on Friday night, but nothing else going on over the weekend. So Saturday we slept late, then left home around noon and headed for the mountains of western North Carolina. It was a great time, and a beautiful place I had never visited. If you've not been there, it's well worth the trip. I redeemed a couple of free nights at the recently renovated Renaissance Asheville, which is right downtown. We parked the car when we arrived Saturday and never moved it until this morning. There are lots of great restaurants — we had a fabulous meal Saturday night at table, and a great brunch yesterday at Old Europe — and some really cool shops. We never made it out of downtown, which was fine. It turned out to be a perfect weekend, and think something we were both craving and didn't realize it until we were there.

Now it's back to reality. I'm sitting at the IAH E PC on a 3.5 hour layover, before heading to Terminal A in a bit for my 9:30 PM flight to BPT , followed by three days of work in the Golden Triangle :rolleyes::rolleyes:.

I am a big fan of AVL, though I haven't been in years. I went to summer camp up there a bunch and still love it. Every summer I swear I am going to go down for a long weekend but I haven't made it yet.

I saw 2 AC A319's here in ATL. Turns out they are the team planes for the the Raptors.

I wonder if they get miles.

I love Asheville. Sounds like a great weekend.

A single team uses two planes?

The White Sox get UA miles. A lot of the players are 1P's just from roadtrips.
