I'm guessing there's no place to stash a standard carry-on sized bag on that plane.

Haha! How did you ever guess that, my friend?
Yep I could be up for that. Of course, finding a good mistake fare that books into a premium class and yields a nice chunk of cheap EQMs for the long-haul intercontinental segments should be part of the deal... Edited to add - If open-jaw in a different reward zone isn't possible, reward ticket outbound to IST (which should be in the same zone as THR, and is also a 4L gateway). |

Goat fits underneath seat in front. If in bulkhead, place goat in bassinet.

CO miles reward ticket to Air Astana Gateway (AMS). CO Plat ----> BD Gold ----> 4L Gold Comp. Fly to land of Borat on Flag Carrier for segment credit resulting in 4L Luggage Tags! Find way to THR on fly-by-night airlines flying seventh-hand ex-soviet rustbuckets. Enjoy Saha Air 707. Return portion of CO Award is open-jaw Ex-THR on AF THR-CDG-IAH/ATL. Problem solved :D

But I also wonder about earlier widebodies, like this A300: http://www.airliners.net/photo/VASP/...203/0230594/L/ The picture is taken in 2001! |

You know you're really tempting me on this one... AMS, Air Astana, several countries I've not visited, 707s, and Soviet rustbuckets? Count me in!

EP-SHU was originally delivered in 1976 to the Imperial Iranian Air Force. About 10 years younger than NW's oldest DC-9.
You know it's sad when NW could replace some DC-9s with some used 727s, 707s, and L-1011s and actually reduce its average fleet age by several years. |
[deleted] I might actually try to get on a Yak-40 :D

I have yet to nab an A300 or A310. I figure I can hop an AA A300 out of MIA whenever. Getting that elusive A310 is a bit trickier. OK is always so expensive on the PRG nonstops. I have considered RJ, as they offer good prices HKG-BKK, but there's only a limited number of flights per week.
A300... Well imagine this. 10 year old kid. First time to Europe. Arrived at the futuristic CDG T1. Seeing a Concorde parked at next gate. And a couple weeks later, boarded an Airbus for LHR. I'm sure all those first time flyer on Skybus out of CMH must be just as excited. ;) |
Here are some obscure options for getting to Tehran from Almaty (no direct service that I can find).
Almaty, Kazakhstan - Ashgabat, Turkmenistan: Turkmenistan Airways Yak-42 Ashgabat, Turkmenistan - Baku, Azerbaijan Lufthansa A333 (even has F) Azerbaijan Hava Yollari Airlines Yak-40; or Uzbekistan Airways Avro RJ-85 Baku, Azerbaijan - Tehran, Iran Azerbaijan Hava Yollari Airlines (can't find what equipment they operate to THR, but a 737-800 it probably ain't :D) |

The A300 is a piece of cake (and one I already have, thanks to AA). The others are definitely not on my Flight Memory yet. :(
