Random, non-'stan ?

Has anyone here in the box ever sat on the board of directors for a company? I was asked to do so for some random insurance company run by a friend of a friend since they need someone in NY to be on the board. I'm intrigued and don't see much upside or downside, unless I end up in court one day from it. Anyone done this sort of thing?

Welcome to my ignore list!

Heh - good score there. I managed to redeem mom a *A F IAH-KWI ticket earlier this month...t'was much easier than dealing with SkyTeam. If you have a second be sure to find a ex FRA flight in first and take advantage of the FCT! :D

No worries, I made sure to get some FCT access for part of my itinerary. My end of May Itinerary is

IAH-FRA LH F (BD Award)
FRA-OSL LH J (BD Award)
OSL-SVO SU J (Mistake Fare - Tu 154!)
SVO-HKG SU J (Same Mistake Fare)
HKG-BKK CX F (Will Purchase Soon)
BKK-FRA TG J (Mistake Fare - Cousin of CMB-JFK, for a few $100 more)
FRA-IAH LH F (BD Award - FCT Access!!!)

Then in July:
IAH-FRA LH F (One-Way BD Award)
FRA-CPT SA J (BKK Mistake, Continued)
CPT-FRA SA J (Same)
FRA-MXP LH J (Same)
MXP-JFK DL J (AZ Codeshare, Same)

Should be fun :D

sbm12, make sure you do your due diligence on the company before you agree to serve. Make sure they have adequate D&O insurance and mandatory indemnification. While it can be an honor to serve, it is more and more fraught with liability issues today.

To properly fulfill your fiduciary duties, you will have to devote a proper amount of time to the board in both the meetings and in preparation for the meetings. Do you have any background in the industry? I would hope they are paying you adequate compensation as well as reimbursing any expenses you may incur.

The only thing better than flying an ERJ to Jackson, Mississippi...

...Is flying an ERJ to Jackson, Mississippi, then renting a car and driving 2 hours to Monroe, Louisiana.

What in the world are you doing there? And don't say "Vacation" or "enjoying the sun" because everyone on FT knows that's a lie ;)

The Significant Otter is a native of what I like to call "that place."

I can identify. My significant other (not otter :)) was raised in a small town about an hour outside of Des Moines, Iowa. I try and limit myself to 2 visits a year and for no more then 4 days at a time.

Let me see if I can catch myself up on the latest rabble-rousing of the 'box' in one post.

smb12: I sit on the board of a volunteer organization that is tax funded. Not only is it an incredible amount of work, very relevant to my signature block here on FT, but I don't get paid. In short, I got the short end of a stick, which seems to be covered in some sort of fecal matter.

Ping me if you need any more information, although I'm not sure how relevant it is to your situation.

My SBH is a native Canuck, and not like fun Toronto, Vancouver, or Montreal -
America Jr. I seem to hate winter and hockey (eh), so you can imagine how often I go visit her folks.

In other news, this video was brought to my attention today. And I feel that the crowd here will get as much amusement out of it as I did.

I'm doing that run on Monday night, but sandwiched in the middle of mainline flights. Even got a YUP outbound but a lowly N on the return...

Like ssullivan my upgrade streak seems to have come to an end. I'm #15 on a 735 tomorow. Good thing it's a quick flight from DFW to IAH. :)

T Storms East of IAH?

Seems like IAH was hit hard this morning with t-stroms but the worst has gone to the east. Heads up.

I awoke at about 4am to what sounded like the end of the world. I've seen hurricanes with less wind .

In other news, my Air Astana Gold Card showed up today (with luggage tags to boot)! :D :D :D. The Email they sent me implied that I wouldn't receive a card until completing some flight activity. Guess not.
