The people at Discover either like me or hate me, not sure which. I'm going to move another credit card load over to them, as their payment terms, customer service and website are miles ahead of the other creditor's. The first time I transferred a balance to them, I paid off a three-year promo balance 11 months early. The second time was a six-month offer that I paid off this morning...12 days after opening.

I did. I just can't allow myself to spend close to $350 for a hotel that I will spend less than 9 hours in.

I would do Le Meridien. You won't get a suite, but for 9 hours, doesn't matter. You'll get there before midnight, so can still get some free drinks in. They have a very nice gift from the mgr. in addition to the plat gift and you get a very nice breakfast buffet in the a.m. that begins at 6 if I recall correctly. Your issue with Le Meridien is transportation that late but you could be okay.

Email [email protected] and see what transporation options exist that late.

You can do Airport Express to the Sheraton (transferring to bus or taxi from the TST Airport Express station)

Definitely not Cyberport. WAY out of the way unless you are doing business out there.

He's just staying overnight. It's great for an overnight stay.

I appreciate that is steep, but in the end -- it's worth the peace-of-mind that she is getting the best care possible!^

Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers in Kowloon for $2,000 HKD or Le Méridien Cyberport on Hong Kong Island for $1,300 HKD

I am arriving in HKG at 10:30 PM. From what I remember the Sheraton is just a few blocks from the MTR, but I could be wrong.

The MTR (TST)stop for sheraton is literally across the street from the hotel, but if arriving on HKIA train, you can't connect to a MTR in Kowloon station, you could go past Kowloon to HK Central and take the MTR back across the harbour to TST.

I'd rather stay in a neighborhood where I have a chance to do something that night or early in the morning before heading back to the airport. And I'd choose to save on transit time.

If it really is just a crash-pad there are plenty of places way cheaper (and still clean/nice) that are available. No, you won't get the few points but there is an opportunity cost there. How much are those points really worth?

Woke up, drove to the plant, and spent some time working with a Triscuit oven operator.

...probably not what you meant.

But, the bakery's got you covered if you get the munchies. :-:

I doubt the current administration would put a VAT into place given that (1) it is a new tax and (2) it is regressive. That guarantees no constituency for it. "Tax simplification" was a goal of the 1986 and 1994 tax reforms, and we've seen how well that has worked.

And now, having brought this up again, I will point out...

I am partial to scones, myself. They are truly the densest of pastries.
