On the way into town, BL JR said "Can we just go to the hotel and order room service?" I said "we're at a hotel that doesn't have room service". After a very nice dinner (M's pub remains consistantly amazing in OMA), we arive at FI, BL JR checking in with me. When the mgr on duty said that both rooms had been upgraded to a suite she proclaimed "thank goodness it's a suite". I think she needs a motel 6/super 8 run.

LOL... I like your reponse later on....

Thanks! We're excited by this opportunity. The biggest issue will be our condo in Atlanta, which we'll probably end up renting for at least a year. Fortunately we bought this place at such a good price two years ago, before the bottom really fell out of housing prices, that we wouldn't be selling at a loss. However, after talking with our realtor and looking at what similar units in this building are selling for, it looks like not trying to sell for another 12-18 months, and renting it out in the meantime, would probably be a better deal in the long run.

Very cool!!

In other news, does anyone know how people are receiving their free Hilton night for the stay 4 promo? Is it hidden somewhere on Hilton's wonderful and highly functional website (), is it emailed, or what's the deal?

Thanks. :-:

Thanks. It takes a LOT to shock me. And this did that.

It comes by e-mail. I've had them arrive anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks after the fourth qualifying stay posted to my Hilton HHonors account.

Answered before me :(

You have a good excuse, considering the  your partner suffered. I stayed up very late on Saturday night trying out Belgian Ales at the 4P LAX with itsaboutthejourney, then took my 6am to Vegas/Laredo, then stayed up until 11 last night in San Antonio, before my 5am alarm to wake up for SAT-HOU. All self-inflicted.

Sounds like a great place to stop over!! Headed there myself this weekend!

Yep. Everywhere. And you can't change that.

Just change the routes and airlines you fly!!

I don't see any tone at all. It's very matter of fact. UA does not provide drink coupons to its own members; why should it do the same for CO PC members? UA's rules are that they give a couple of drink coupons to passengers who obtain lounge admittance as a result of flying UA on an international C or F ticket. Period. Yes, there is the occasional RCC front desk agent who will be nice and give you a couple, but there is nothing in CO's PC member agreement that promises a PC member free alcohol anywhere other than in CO's own clubs. In partner lounges the rules are set by the airline that owns that lounge. UA isn't going to do more for CO's lounge members than it does for its own.

I sent the email in regards to a UA agent telling me I would get the coupons but that it was not 10 or 12 am and that it was policy so that was the confusion. I guess it was the matter of fact tone that got me.

Keep at it, and pay attention to things like who the vendors are that hotels contract for various services. Many of my coworkers worked for our clients first, before jumping over to the consulting side and taking a job with our company. I came in via a different route, and much luck was involved in me getting my foot in the door with my current employer (literally, it came down to a random conversation initiated by a total stranger in an Internet chat room). You never know when and where opportunity will knock. It could be the next guest you help, or someone you randomly sit next to on your next flight.

Well, it sounds like your new job will certainly help build your CV for consulting in the future. ^

Front line customer-facing employees say all kinds of things. Honestly, if it was a benefit, it would be on the CO website, and CO would have publicly stated it as such. And it would have been all over the UA forum as the RCC membership threw a huge fit over it.

I'd put no more stock in an agent saying that than a flight attendant saying "CO is buying out FL and WN next week and then merging the whole mess into US."

That particular airport, no, but the city it is in, yes. Headed there next week for what is, at the moment, my last scheduled on-site session with them. I have a feeling it won't be my last, although I'm not sure when I'll be able to get back there as my schedule is quite full from now until late summer.

When will people stop relying on comments made by the least informed employees? Seriously?

At the Conrad? I'm not seeing HBO. I think there's MTV but I don't even watch that at home. ;)

If I posted every rumor I hear an airline or hotel employee spouting off on here we'd have twice as many  threads as we do now.

The Conrad. This is actually the first time I've turned the TV on since I've been here. Half my channels are blank, so maybe there's some problem with it.
