Believe me, I know. Since part of my job is industrial engineering, process improvements generally involve some kind of idiot-proofing. The world just keeps making better idiots. On one hand, it makes me feel like Sisyphus. On the other hand, it means job security if I can keep one step ahead. ^

I'm always amazed when working with a client on the process improvement portion of my job. I believe some organizations simply exist to create a certain level of chaos and disorganization, that, in the end, exists simply to justify said organization's existance.

I'd jump all over that in a heartbeat without even thinking about it.

Believe me I thought about it, just not sure I want to go back to banking industry.....but if I were to do so, Swiss banking would have been the place to be.

So in order to have credible skills as one who improves processes, I should have gone to school for engineering. Oops.

It's true. And, at the end of the day, we still have it pretty darn good in the US. :-:

I am not considering going anywhere else permanently, I plan to visit of course. But I do plan to stand up for my own free choice and rights as well. I am willing to take it quite a ways, I am still debating just how far with myself, until I have a family I can be a bit more extreme.

I understand what you are saying, but it doesn't prevent you from trying to achieve such for yourself.

However you now have the coming responsibility of a wife, something I do not have weighing me down, just yet....

So, after 2 hours on hold and speaking with 4 different agents, CO agreed to honor its mistake I found last week, which gave me a pretty good net benefit. :-:

Not necessarily. The team I'm a member of has folks with backgrounds in other fields.

One of the guys was an English major. He's our expert in labor utilization and labor relations. We've got a few engineers, a few others with straight science degrees, etc.

All you really need is a working knowledge of the field you're working in (or the ability to understand it quickly, which is one of my strengths), and to know how to use a certain set of broadly-applicable tools/methods.

That sounds like me, except as applied to the process of getting a hotel guest from the front door to their room in record time.
