That has always irked me as well. Interstates 17, 27, and 37 never cross a state border.
Edit: Even I-84 has the common decency to cross over from Idaho to Utah! At least... this is the theory I've heard bandied about. Could be urban legend, but it makes sense. |

Nomenclature aside, the Feds wanted control over strategic arteries/transit points for military purposes during the Cold War. IH-45 and IH-37 serve a strategic purpose, by allowing for efficient, fast flow of materiel from major ports/ship channels near the Mexican border to the interior of the country.

Yeah, I was really measuring from, "first sign of civilization to the other side where it ends." As such:
Brookshire to TX-146 east of Baytown (I-10): 65 miles, 1h20m travel time Rosenberg to Cleveland (US 59): 80 miles, 1h25m travel time Galveston to Conore (I-45): 90 miles, 1h25m travel time The only travel time listing I buy is the US-59 route because the freeway is better and wider, no Pierce Elevated, and no Webster/Clear Lake. Where 59 struggles now is north of town and the ditch right before downtown. P.S. - Roads, city planning, etc. really interest me. I love just staring at maps. |

I think you'll have to start measuring further than Baytown now. Since 99 has been started and there are cars running on it now, the area has definitely grown. Wallisville is probably a good end point.

Sitting at the computer, wondering why my phone hasn't charged. Might help if I actually plug the USB cable into the computer ...

Greetings from the C3 PC at EWR. Got off my LHR-EWR flight about 1.5 hours ago, now waiting to meet the S.O. who is on the 3:45p to LAX.
Apologies in advance for the long catch up post.

Try this program to make 2007 show you the classic menus:

I'm hoping to win CO's version of powerball in a couple weeks. Lie-flat BF EUA on the 530a 752 between EWR + IAH. There's a whole lot of  conspiring against me though.

There's development all the way out to the Trinity River bridge. Over years of traveling to Anahuac semi-regularly (), I noticed a startling amount of development on the East side. Those people are all totally screwed if a hurricane bigger than Ike rolls in right around Freeport.
