That's nuts.

It's damn near a hour and a half drive from Brookshire to just east of Baytown (west to east across I-10).

I suspect Teh Pit got left off the list, because the economy here is doing considerably better than the rest of the country.

Indeed; economic factors were sited on most of the cities listed.

No kidding. I'm very interested to see what the Census reveals about the population here. My guess is that the numbers have already changed significantly.

Agreed. At the height of the oil price spike, it seemed like there was an entire new neighborhood (thousands of McHomes) going up along the IH-45, IH-10W, US-59, Beltway, and 288 corridors. I would not be surprised to see a very large population spike (several 100K) from the last census.

Conroe to Galveston is even worse, considering the suckitude of IH-45. Williams Trace to Splendora/Cleveland isn't quite as bad (but is generally awful on the SW side).

Traffic actually moves off of SW-59 now. They finally finished the freeway. ;)

Forgive me, father, for I have sinned.

Someone was horking the presclub wifi here in IAH B. I booted into BT3, launched a DEAUTH flood, locked the computer screen, then went to the bar for a drink.

Wifi is running so much better here now.

Sorry to hear about your sister, steph3n, glad she's ok.

Yeah, I was really measuring from, "first sign of civilization to the other side where it ends." As such:

Brookshire to TX-146 east of Baytown (I-10): 65 miles, 1h20m travel time
Rosenberg to Cleveland (US 59): 80 miles, 1h25m travel time
Galveston to Conore (I-45): 90 miles, 1h25m travel time

The only travel time listing I buy is the US-59 route because the freeway is better and wider, no Pierce Elevated, and no Webster/Clear Lake.

I haven't driven it since it stopped sucking (except for during the holidays, which don't really count for traffic purposes). That's good to know. ^

IH-45 is still a turd of a freeway. I'm glad that the Federal Highway Administration recognizes that Dallas is not properly a part of Texas. How else does one explain an Interstate Highway that terminates in Dallas and Galveston?

That is beautiful. And I, too, am glad Steph3n's sister is ok.

That has always irked me as well. Interstates 17, 27, and 37 never cross a state border.

Edit: Even I-84 has the common decency to cross over from Idaho to Utah!

Edit again: Oh yeah, I-49  me off as well.
