Looks like the hotel of choice seems to be the Conrad

Sweet Willie - congratulations on your Evangelist status! (Did I spell it right? )

seanthepilot - Great suggestion. I'll join you for drinks Friday evening at the Swissotel. We can then proceed to La Pau Sat.

In prior years I would arrive Friday at midnight on UA deadbeat, and immediately go to sleep. So this year I've learnt my lesson. I'm arriving at midnight on UA Thursday. So I won't fall asleep Friday.

I remember the walking tour 2 years ago. I'm happy to repeat this. Suggest we start with an adult refreshment at the Long Bar, Raffles Hotel (now what could that be?), proceed perhaps to Raffles Landing Site, end up at Boat Quay.

I am willing to coordinate the Sat night No Signboard dinner. MJM also got a discount at the Greylang one. I don't know if it would apply at the Esplanade. I will check with MJM on the reasons. If the Esplanade one has room, we don't have to pay cab fare either.

Earlier in the thread I posted my interest in attending this meet.

However, I scored on the error fare to eastern Europe on NW/KL so I'm going there instead.

I know you guys will have a great time at the SIN DO

At the last SIN DO I attended, I think an FTer actually was our "tour guide". He did an absolutely fantastic job, as I recall. That would be SIN DO 2005. I'm sure his info is in there somewhere. And, IIRC, it started or ended w/ Singapore Slings at Raffles.

You are right - it started with Slings at the Long Bar, and IIRC, ended with some folks having cocktails at the Fullerton, and about 10-12 of us landing at BoatQuay for Tigers/snacks.
I'm thoroughly embarrassed that I can't recall the FT-handle of the guide, a great guy, and a FANTASTIC tour.

Best, Dave

willem (miles4all) I believe was the tour guide. Perhaps he can be
convinced to come out of hiding and do another for newcomers
to the city.
