Another maybe (was at 3rd annual, I think it was). Depends on getting the trip at a sale fare, as once again I'll be looking at a longer trip that takes in Singapore at about that timeframe.

Can't wait for SIN Do! I'm in. See you there.
Hotel booked. Leave from work approved. Might even try LX 1st class down from BKK just for fun.

OK we will be in SIN. ^
We flly to SEA/NRT/BKK on the 8th and then on to SIN on the 12th. We arrive in the evening so, if there is something going on Friday night, we may show up late or not at all.
We return to SIN/NRT/SEA on the 15th and we are already upgraded on all 5 segments. We have booked rooms in BKK, but haven't yet thought about where we will stay in SIN. We will figure it out

I had some spare miles floating around in my no longer used MileagePlus account.
Also there was (believe it or not) some availability to SIN on the appropriate dates.
So you can put me down for my second SIN RUN. ^

Hey Mikey,
Count me in! I am making my first trip to Asia and looking forward to spending a few days in SIN. I think you owe me a beer (or more) IIRC?
01/10/07 - 01/11/07
UA 891 LAX - NRT 11:19A - 4:00P
UA 803 NRT - SIN 5:30P- 11:59P
01/15/07
UA 804 SIN - NRT 7:30A - 2:55P
UA 890 NRT - LAX 4:10P - 8:43A
I don't have a hotel reserved as of yet so can you give me some help on where is a good place to stay. I am mostly Starwood but can stay at others if need be.
Dave

This is a real newbie question, but what typically happens at a DO. I am interested and my wife is pretty spontaneous, so she would probably be willing. It is definitely something different, and a good start to the year mileage wise. Please shed some light for us newbies. I am sure there will be good food and good drink, but what beyond that. Oh, I do have one major concern. My wife takes a prescription narcotic patch for chronic back pain relief (thanks to a 3rd time convicted drunk driver). Will that be a problem for her. I know Singapore is extremely strict with narcotics. She will, of course, have a doctor's note and prescription for the patch.

Regulatory Requirements for Bringing Personal Medicines into Singapore
This guidance document issued by the Centre for Drug Administration, Health Sciences Authority, provides visitors to Singapore with the current regulatory requirements for medicines brought into Singapore for personal use.
[...]
If your medicines contain any controlled substance listed in Appendix A, you are required to apply for a controlled substance permit from the Centre for Drug Administration (CDA), Health Sciences Authority, Singapore, before your travel to Singapore.

No idea about the narcotics regulation at SIN - there are other places on FT (and the web) that might help you out there. I'd start in the Other Asia forum.
As far as what goes on at a Do ... here's the offical thread for the definition of a Do (check out the sticky at the top of the forum for more info).
If you like meeting people from different places with a wide variety of backgrounds and interests but with common interests in travel, miles & points then you'll enjoy a Do ... there is a huge one being planned in London for November if you don't want to wait for January.

Appendix A is listed in that document - I would ask your doctor to confirm whether or not your medicine is on that list. Hope that helps!

I imagine your wife is using a fentanyl (Duragesic) transdermal patch. As "3-Methyl fentanyl" is listed in Appendix A, I think we can assume you will need to apply for a controlled substance permit. Hopefully you can FAX this request and the process will not be too painful. In my trips to SIN, I've never had my luggage searched, but why take a chance. After travelling 10,000 miles to attend a SIN DO, arriving on UA at midnight, you hardly want to discuss pharmacology with customs.

Decisions Decisions
Hmm, interesting, hard to make a decision. Fly 20+ hours to the other side of the world, where it'll be nice and tropical singapore weather or stay back east and freeze.
Still hard.. HMMMMMM
