I'd prefer the No Signvoard in the Esplanade, just because of the proximity to the hotels. Also, I believe Muthu's has a location in Suntec, near the fountain. It sounds like the lunch is scheduled at the other location in Little India--right? The location in Suntec is a beautiful, upscale restaurant.

I have double booked reservations at both the Geylang and Esplande No Signboard Seafood locations for Saturday, Jan. 14 at 7PM. We will meet at the Conrad lobby at 6:30PM.
I won't be able to get the 10% discount that MJM got because he has to be present with his VIP card. The total cost (when you consider taxi if we go to Geylang) should be about S$55-$60 per person, it will depend one how much we eat and drink.
Please post you preference, if any, on which location you prefer. I would like to cancel the second reservation by Jan 3.

Echo my thanks as well for your effort and would like to defer to which location you think is best.
Happy New Year to eveyone.

In spite of my earlier expressed preference, I am completely flexible and open and was later thinking that for any first timers in the group the Geylang shop is the more authentic Singapore experience.

Since this will be my first Singapore exploration, I have no problem with either place. I am staying at the Sheraton and Dave's note mentioned one over the other due to location but it won't make any difference to me.

It looks like I will be able to attend Dinner on Saturday! I have changed around my flights by a day, and I will arrive at Changi at 20.15 on the 13th from AKL on SQ 286. I have just enough time for Dinner (4h 50min layover) before I continue from SIn to ZRH on SQ346.
So, I strongly vote for Geylang, this will allow me to spend an additional 30-45 minutes with all of you!
Can anybody advise whether traffic would normally be a problem getting from Changi to Geylang?
It seems the MRT is 7 mins travel time for the Changi Shuttle + 11 mins for the ride to the Aljunied MRT stop. This in turn seems to be a 500m walk to the hotel. So, if traffic would be a problem, I'd take the MRT. If not, I'd opt for a taxi as a route planner is telling me this is a 15km ride taking about 15mins. Including the 5$ Changi surcharge on a Saturday evening I would expect to pay about 15 SGD for the cab - which seems fair enough.

My wife and I will be attending. Arriving on UA 803 at 11:59pm on the 11th and staying until the 17th. Sign us up for the Friday and Saturday activities except lunch on Saturday. It looks like Sunday is still a bit in flux but we are up something. It's our first trip to Singapore.
We are staying at the Oriental.

What time might we be meeting for drinks @ New Asia Bar at the Swissotel The Stamford, Friday evening, I wonder? May I suggest 10 pm. From there, we can take a taxi to Lau Pa Sat, to meet arriving UA fliers who are still able to walk and talk.

Thanks restless. We can try but our connection might be a bit tight for an RCC stop. UA875 from SEA doesn't arrive until 3:55pm so if there is any delay, we will be going directly to the gate.
I'm in 8E on UA803 if we miss in the RCC.
