Yes, the Esplanade is only a few minutes walk from the Conrad. The place is a little more upscale and someone posted that the prices are about 10% more. The total price will be about the same because of the taxi to the Geylang location.

We will be flying into SIN from BKK on Friday the 12th on Finnair. We arrive sometime in the very early evening.

We will be staying at the Conrad Friday and Saturday night and then switching to the Le Meridien on Sunday.

We will do whatever happens Saturday and Sunday.

For a "smaller" group, I'd prefer the Esplanade branch, as its easier to get to, has a GREAT outdoor ambience, and despite being a touch more expensive, would be a very nice venue. Geylang is fine, but works better for a larger group and is not walking distance.
For those of us at the Hyatt/Marriott/Sheraton, Esplanade is easily reached by a quick MRT trip to City Hall and then a nice walk down to the water.

Best, Dave

A vote for the Esplanade location. Agree with the logic of other posters that the slightly higher cost balances out the taxi, and the nicer location and ambiance tips the scales.

That's the worst news I 've heard on this page of the thread! I hope you're going to have "alternate" MR'ing to do.

Thanks. MR'ing? Not quite, I only get to fly to Tampa (that's under 1K each way!) that weekend but it's to see some friends I haven't seen in years .... I'm planning my Asia trip for February this year so won't totally miss out.

I'll be in the RCC or quite possibly (depending on 803's gate) the nicer IMHO ANA lounge. Nice sake and shochu bar there as well as a noodle bar.

Are you at Sheraton, as the participant listing shows Swissotel? If you are at Swissotel, then a shared cab would work out since they are close by, but for the Sheraton, IME the taxi drivers would tend to be more inclined to jog over and take the Pan Island Expressway towards town instead of the ECP which is a straight shot to the Conrad and Marina Bay area.

Looking forward to seeing new people as those that I met two years ago at the SIN DO.
I'm staying at the Sheraton for the first night and then moving to the Swissotel.

Is it easy to access the ANA lounge in Narita? Do they have showers? I'd like to try something other than the RCC, but I do like the shower set-up.

If you are *G or travelling in C, as you are, yes, you can get in. Haven't used showers there but IIRC they have them.

I won't be able to get the 10% discount that MJM got because he has to be present with his VIP card. The total cost (when you consider taxi if we go to Geylang) should be about S$55-$60 per person, it will depend one how much we eat and drink.

Please post you preference, if any, on which location you prefer. I would like to cancel the second reservation by Jan 3.
I'm very flexible, but my preference would be the Esplanade branch.

I would prefer to go to Geylang as it is not as sterile atmosphere as Esplanade but am flexible to do what is convenient for the group. Bottom line, I want to eat some crab!

Saturday dinner

I'd prefer the No Signvoard in the Esplanade, just because of the proximity to the hotels. Also, I believe Muthu's has a location in Suntec, near the fountain. It sounds like the lunch is scheduled at the other location in Little India--right? The location in Suntec is a beautiful, upscale restaurant.
