Oh, I do have one major concern. My wife takes a prescription narcotic patch for chronic back pain relief (thanks to a 3rd time convicted drunk driver). Will that be a problem for her. I know Singapore is extremely strict with narcotics. She will, of course, have a doctor's note and prescription for the patch.
Here is last year's SIN DO website where the activities are listed: http://home.inter.net/mjm/sinrun06.html

Take a look

Please count me in as a tentative "yes". I'm finalizing my plane tickets, but I'm considering flying DEN-SIN on January 10 and returning on the 15th.

I'm in! Here's my itinerary:

1/11, SEA-NRT, UA #875
1/12, NRT-SIN, UA #803
1/15, SIN-NRT, UA #804
1/15, SIN-SFO, UA #852 at 7:00 p.m.

Edited to add: I haven't chosen a hotel yet. The Conrad sounds fine, but I've stayed at a couple of really small hotels, like the Perak Lodge in Little India, and some shophouse hotel in Chinatown that I can no longer find the name of. (I'll search for it -- I'd like to stay there again!)

Ordinarily, I adore luxury hotels. However, in Singapore, I prefer the smaller hotels. They make me feel like I really am in a foreign place. I like the wood floors and plaster walls and the tall, shuttered windows. It's fun to be so close to everyday Singaporean life. And, best of all -- I can open the windows!

Is there anyone else who's interested in staying at a small hotel, too? If so, I'd be happy to find a place and get a few rooms booked.

I stayed at Le Meridien Changi. It's a lovely and reasonably-priced hotel. The rooftop pool is nice. The free shuttle to and from the airport is helpful, but it is a S$10 taxi ride from the nearest MRT station, and the ride into town is about thirty minutes.

I too really really liked the rooftop pool ^

BUT, according to this thread from the Starwood Forum, the Le Meridien Changi is not going to be a Le Meridien anymore as of 12/1/2006

cancelling

Looks like I am going to have to drop out of SIN 2007 due to health issue. My FT wings are rather clipped for a while. .....but there's always 2008, I hope!

Wine tasting

It was briefly discussed on the 2005 thread that a few folks would be interested in an event involving wine.

FWIW:

I'm willing to bring a bottle or 2 and if other interested people can do the same, I'll take the lead in finding space for us to have a little wine and hors doevre event on Sunday night. I'm staying at the Conrad with access to the exec lounge - I'd start looking there but am open to other suggestions.

Any interest??

Sure - I could bring some too. Even if my itinerary involves somewhere with liquid carry on restrictions I am sure I can find a way around it.

Yes, I will bring a bottle of 1994 Markham cab. I worked in the lab at harvest that year.

Yes! Please count me in. Will you coordinate variety assignments too?

It will be strange to drink wine in the tropics. It's usually so expensive -- and hard to get the good stuff -- that we switch to the local crazy-juice for the duration of the trip.

You can pick up excellent wines at the Duty Free shop right before the luggage carousels in SIN...

Oooh, how sorry I am to miss this but 2008 I will be booking in late February!
