What a comeback! I'm surprised the timings aren't midnight ex-HKG departure / evening in-SEA arrival / midnight ex-SEA departure / early morning in-HKG arrival though; which seems to work better to feed connections at HKG and also help O&D pax maximize a full day at both ends. Guess those slots are hard to get back after losing them.

I would have much preferred resuming the previous schedule too. I guess connections out of SSA are better with the morning arrival.

guess the rumors were right after all. how after all this time there is still A359s to use? regional routes likely have no long haul aircraft at this point

CX can still pull some longhaul capacity off regional flights. There is still some longhaul equipment on selected flights to Japan, China and Singapore. Meanwhile, the utilization of the A333 fleet still leaves room for expansion to replace the longhaul capacity that is pulled from the regional network.

It's for Indians. The schedule is evident for that and maybe it helps for better long haul aircraft utilisation.

Yes but the Indians better fill it up then because it's not an attractive schedule for O&D or even other connections. I would rather take a connection than waste a day flying each way.

Looks like CX is finally trying to battle for the Indian market.

They've always had the strongest presence in India across all East Asian carriers no? Compared to zero nonstop flight between China/Taiwan/Korea and India, and just 1 daily between Tokyo and Delhi (JL) and Mumbai (NH).
|
What about resuming Moscow?. With the full visa free travel between China and Russia, maybe its time for CX to resume that route, even though there is a huge amount of Chinese airline capacity in Moscow

Flying to mainland China via HK from Russia is backtracking anyway. |

I'd be curious to see if they could make a return to Pakistan though. Sure, zero tourism demand; and the Pakistani community in Hong Kong is nowhere as wealthy as the Indian community in Hong Kong. But how about just reviving the HKG-BKK-KHI route? No competition from CZ, which only serve LHE and ISB. Crew can do a same day turnaround or just dead-head back to BKK, so less security concerns. That's exactly the kind of route that an A321neo is built for
|
What about Mexico City?. CZ is now flying there 3x weekly from Shenzhen.
