My own speculation is that most of those first 25 are for Lufthansa and Emirates (especially Emirates). But what is the exact schedule after that? There is a big difference if CX were to get the plane #30 vs plane #120 out of the assembly line (for example). Is there public information about this? If there official information that ANA & SQ will get planes before CX? If so, please give us a source or sources.

The first 777-9 frame for SQ was built in 2024. There are alrd reg # for both SQ and ANA. Getting #30 for CX is “remotely possible” - it is true that CX did not manage to navigate this 777-9 delivery chaos. Who to blame? Management or Covid in HK? Pointing finger is kinda meaningless now.

I also want to add that CX is the only one without 787-10 on order / not operating any 787 in the 777-9 delivery list (vs its major competitors). CX’s bargaining power over Boeing now is like Meh…I guess

Does EK have 787s on order?

15 787-8 and 15 787-10, placed in 2023.

I’m quite curious where EK going to fly 787-8. Maybe very thin Central Asia, Europe routes? And maybe some US airports that have got any international routes?

Who will have stronger bargaining power, for a existing customer, or a potential new customer?

The problem is CX is more like a none customer to Dreamliner despite of all the flirting on PR level.

And EK, QR, LH and SQ are even bigger “potential customers” to Boeing given the A380 on their hands to replace in the future.

The first batch is definitely earmarked for LH, EK and QR, but I don't have insight into if any other airlines are in that group.

I don't recall anything being said about the post-25 batch. There may well be some reports in assorted aviation media but only a few of those would I consider trustworthy. There may also be a spreadsheet listing 777X frames and owners – and if there's not, I have no doubt one will quickly arise once the 777-9s begin delivery, along the same lines as some of the excellent Airbus trackers – but again, one has to be careful regarding the provenance of information. It's all too easy for somebody to claim this and that and something else, and even a stopped clock is correct twice a day, so judge any source on their 'qualifications' and previous track record.

CX is not nobody. Years ago CX was the largest B77W and A330 operator globally. Although the emergence of Middle East carriers makes CX ‘less important’, CX still has 40+ long-haul widebody demand for 77W replacement and further growth this year. Boeing always wants to sell into CX but CX chose A321neo over B737max, A339 over B78X, and even A350F over B778F. I don’t think Boeing will sit there and watch Airbus steal more orders from them.

The first delivery for LH, IIRC, is a #20+ B779. The earlier built planes may undergo massive rework before being delivered.

CX is literally a downsized airline and at best is a regional player post Covid.

and CX isnnot even planing to grow for 7 years.
if they wanted to expand instead of diminish they would have ordered 50 to 60 planes and hence their bargaining position is basically nothing.

Regional player with how many destinations outside the region?

Given the history of 787, MAX… I wouldn’t necessarily fancy flying any of those early 777x…

Another variable is the availability of seats and their certifications. That might influenced the delivery positions too.
