cx CEO said the wish to have the the new route to Central Asia is well noted. there may be good news soon

Is PR also trying to join OW? They have been partnering with OW airlines like AS, QF and QR.

Does look like it, but ANA owns 4% of PR.

Breaking | Hong Kong to relaunch direct flights to Kazakhstan’s Almaty in first quarter of 2027

Official press release, scheduled for Q1 2027: https://news.cathaypacific.com/catha...ghts-to-almaty
but this is not a resumption...

I was scratching my head at SCMP's "relaunch" claim. But I wasn't bothered enough by it to fact check.

Hopefully it will be a daytime flight both ways i.e. 0800-0900 departure from HKG. I understand the connectivity aspect, but as a O&D dread the redeyes westbound from India. I dislike them so much I would rather do a day flight on the 321 in a cradle seat vs a overnight 77W/350/330 with flatbeds.

from the HK govt perspective it's a resumption
Air Astana used to operate this route.

I didn't mean to refer to the SCMP article title, but the title of this very own thread, though I realised we had digressed a long time ago.
