Mexico maybe but DFW is terrible for deep south LATAM. Nothing to GIG, SCL or EZE. GRU is below MCT on the way there and a 6am to 11pm layover on the way back. You need MIA for good connections both ways. Even JFK is better with multiple dailies.
Also, AA is pretty terrible. I would much rather connect onto LATAM or for domestic, AS. |

Did it ever happened in the past where CX took over and replaced a UO route?

This is when SEA is traditionally rather slow during the first three months of the year. JX had a LF of 90s in December. It’s certainly benefiting from its partnership with AS. Yields probably have gone down due to competition. Ticket prices have gone down quite a lot compared to 2 years ago. No idea about cargo though… |
A bit out of topic, but for HXs potential long haul network, I can only think of LGW and Man that have the emigration wave and tourist/ student traffic that works for HX. I am a bit puzzled why these routes were not said to have been considered as potential routes for HX. Any ideas or updates on HX's potential long haul routes, other than the current YVR, Sydney (to be launched in June) and the rumored MEL?

with declining US demand, and CX usually avoiding competition or shooing away competition at HKG, its still hard to believe SEA would launch, especially that frequencies are even more compared to last year, and CX is very short on planes.
id say more european/ middle east/ African or even other US destinations have a higher chance than SEA. HK is getting more international visitors and transit traffic so a lot of other routes can work. as for HX, there are rumors they're not taking B787s anymore and reducing frequencies, and with their cheap prices yields are not the best, so its hard to think they're gonna expand more. |

They can rely on Qatar for middle east and African flights. |

I wonder whether internally HNA group is as hierarchical as say the LH group that HNA group make all decisiojs for HX behalf. I think HX is instead in a pretty bad position that it finances is independent, management is somewhat linked to the HNA group but can make decisions on their own, but a lack of support, including lack of internal orders to transfer planes to HX to support its development etc. made HX quite stuck as other airlines within the group are opposing the transfer of aircraft to HX to support its plan (no 787-9s arrived, no further A333s arrived). So it's kinda stuck.

depends where as well.
CX could also launch Auckland - Sao Paulo and partner with Air NZ. |
Not a new route but this deep analysis of the traffic and performance of every Cathay route could be helpful in thinking about where they're doing well and not:
https://aviationa2z.com/index.php/20...usiest-routes/ (Some errors though, like why is a flight to Parma listed and neither Milan nor Rome?) |

Finally I found this. CX are always keen on Miami non-stop. Starting from A350 delivery

From what I know, HX's management is assigned by HNA, and HX has no stake in most of the decisions, including destination and fleet. HNA is the major decesion maker.
HX is cancelling/ reducing frequencies on some routes, proving regional routes have immense competition. i don't think things are looking too good for HX... |
