2015 POUG rate tracker
Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you.
POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner. You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

Short haul routes from LON to/from Europe
A price in pounds indicates a ticket issued from London, other currencies indicate prices for tickets issued overseas (e.g. singles or returns originating from CDG priced in Euros). Multiple prices indicate a range of fares are on offer. Note that LCY prices currently seem to be on a different basis to LGW and LHR (cheaper, in other words).

The new POUG prices are getting as ridiculous as the KL ones. At least BA give extra Avios and TPs.

Offered this morning, a week or so after the outbound, AMS/LHR for £90. The original HBO fare was £85.61 so £265.61 in total for the day return on Sunday 25/1.

Quick question, if you have a booking for three, is it possible to POUG only one person in the party or would you need separate bookings?

Online, it's very much an "all or none" policy I'm afraid. To POUG just one person in the booking, I suspect you'd have to do that via the call centre, but I'm not even sure if they'd be able to do it without splitting bookings and all sorts of other pallava's.

The problem is, the POU is being offered to that booking based on it's individual characteristics (No, its not predictable!) If you split the booking, theres no guarantee that the POU will be offered on the divided booking.

I'm being offered GBP150 for LHR-ATH (from a non-HBO fare). Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's not a terribly good value if I'm after tier points, right? At the moment I'd earn 20 in discount Y. The additional 60 tp work out to gbp2.5 per point?

I should add, this would get me to Silver in one fell swoop, instead of waiting for an upcoming trip in April.

I think it's reasonable value for one of the longest shorthaul flights.

You need to factor in two other things:

(1) What is your actual value of the upgrade? On a Band 1 flight or an LCY flight or something, I could understand it being very minimal. But ATH is a 3-4 hour flight (depending on direction). There is clearly benefit to being in CE besides TPs. Especially if you are on a 320. I'd probably put that at 75 GBP. So you're down to 1.25 per TP. For example, I recently paid 70 GBP extra to just buy J MUC-LHR. I probably value that upgrade at 30-40 GBP for the upgrade itself. So the TPs are a 1.00-1.33 GBP per point.

(2) Will you have to MR for additional TPs later in the year? I would certainly value buying TPs on trips I'm already taking vs. wasting time with an MR even if the TPs are cheaper.

In theory, your value of the upgrades should be higher than mine because you are only Bronze and therefore don't have lounge access. The fact that I'm a OWE notably diminishes what I'm willing to pay for the upgrade portion of a POUG or Y to J fare difference within Europe.

Thanks to both of you for the input. I'm oneworld sapphire through June as I shift my flying from CX to BA, so in theory the fact that I'm bronze doesn't have that much of an impact since I'd make Silver before my CX card runs out anyway. Although I do place some value on the bonus avios, ability to pre-select seats without faffing about with the Finnair site and such.

Pondering if 80 quid for 30 TPs is value, I will exiting Jan on 1320 Tier points and a end of year of May 9th

Two friends on holiday in SYD have a POUG of about £500 to upgrade from WTP to CW for their flight back.

They jumped at the offer and looking forward to the flight, especially as most of their travel is in WTP.

Wiki updated.

Within the last year LHR-FRA has increased from £69 to £79, then £99 and now (Jan 2015) to £105. When I and other colleagues started out in 2013 it was £59. ~44% increase over 2 years? Certainly looks like BA is doing rather well out of POUG, unless the price it's offering me is higher because I've got 'Gold' mug written all-over my forehead?

PS would someone kindly update FRA to £105 in the list above? Thx
