2015 POUG rate tracker
Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you.
POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner. You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.
Short haul routes from LON to/from Europe
A price in pounds indicates a ticket issued from London, other currencies indicate prices for tickets issued overseas (e.g. singles or returns originating from CDG priced in Euros). Multiple prices indicate a range of fares are on offer. Note that LCY prices currently seem to be on a different basis to LGW and LHR (cheaper, in other words).

Pro-active Online Upgrade (POUG) tracking and discussion | 2015 thread

What is a Pro-active Online Upgrade?
The simple answer: it is a limited special upgrade that may be offered at a time of BA's choosing after your booking is ticketed up to and including online check-in. The offer, if it happens (and this is not guaranteed) will appear in Manage My Booking, either via BA.com or the mobile app. There is no email notification, klaxon sound or flashing beacons to alert you - so now you know why its called a Pro-active Online Upgrade
Please note, POUG rates differ from the rates offered at the airport (see, http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html) and also the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
In summary
- All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
- POUGs are not usually offered on bookings with connections, such as bookings that combine UK domestic and international flights
- POUGs are offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
- POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
- POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
- POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
- After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

The prices I get now are typically above my inflection point and frankly, if it gets to the point where I struggle to maintain my BA status, I'd probably start doing a lot more Norwegian, Easyjet, etc.

I have taken the liberty of putting recent POUG fares into the Wiki, anything from mid October onwards. Most of them were offered to me, some in the last few days and those I have not taken up are still showing the above prices.
I've also split the original structure: at least within Europe it doesn't matter which direction the POUG is, but it does matter which currency the ticket was offered in. Often fares from Europe (either single or return) are cheaper than UK issued fares. But a UK issued LHR-CDG, priced in Sterling, will cost the same in either direction, whereas a Euro denominated fare will generally be a bit cheaper, again in either direction. BAEC and HBO status are not relevant to the price.

The wiki post is all well and good, but it has been established in the latter half of 2014 that BA jerked up the short haul POUG prices from LHR and LGW considerably.

We have two tickets for the same flight but separate bookings, LHR - DUB, I got upgrade offer for £80, my husband £95 (his ticket is HBO). Flight in March 2015.

I'm still being offered £95 e/w for LCY-DUB and still not worth it considering you can pay just under £200 in business compared to say £80 for ET + £180 to CE = £260.
