2015 POUG rate tracker
Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you.
POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner. You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.
Short haul routes from LON to/from Europe
A price in pounds indicates a ticket issued from London, other currencies indicate prices for tickets issued overseas (e.g. singles or returns originating from CDG priced in Euros). Multiple prices indicate a range of fares are on offer. Note that LCY prices currently seem to be on a different basis to LGW and LHR (cheaper, in other words).
Long haul routes from LON to North America
(price shown from lower cabin to mentioned cabin, e.g. WTP means price to POUG from WT to WTP):

Just been offered:
LHR > JFK, WT > WTP for 169gbp.
Pretty good price I thought, but I was really hoping for a CW offer. If i were to take this now, would that prevent me from being able to upgrade to CW at checkin at the airport?
Edit: Just achieved Bronze for the first time thanks largely to the advice from this forum. I know it's not a major status, but i'm happy!

AUPs are independent of POUGs so you would still be able to take advantage of any WTP - CW upgrade offers at the airport. As always don't bank on being offered one, though.
I would take the WTP upgrade, found it more than bearable on the reasonably short jaunt from LHR - JFK.

I've had a pre-flight service email offering AMS-LGW for 89 euros. Does that count as a POUG?

Hello, I'm sure this may have been covered, but it's a big thread, so apologies. But does this upgrade business only apply to certain fare classes?
Also can it be applied to certain legs of a trip individually? I am doing MUC-LHR-MIA-MCO in February, and were I lucky enough to be eligible for an upgrade, I would only really want it on the LHR-MIA leg.
Cheers,
Pete

If that's all on the same ticket, unlikely a POUG will be offered at all. I won't say never, but I'm not aware of POUGs being offered on journeys with a connection (even domestic connections seem to rule them out), or on open-jaw routings. Additionally, if your flight is booked via a travel agent rather than direct with BA, POUGs are usually only offered very close to the flight date (at or just before OLCI), if at all.

A date point for AMS from LHR for January.
A friend has £109 upgrade offers for both sectors.

On behalf of everyone at Flyertalk Towers, many thanks for all the contributions and collective reports in this thread. As it is now a rather large thread, and a lot of the early posts are now out of date, we have created a new thread for 2016, which you can find here:
