2015 POUG rate tracker
Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you.
POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner. You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

A price in pounds indicates a ticket issued from London, other currencies indicate prices for tickets issued overseas (e.g. singles or returns originating from CDG priced in Euros). My LHR/AMS was exactly 48 hours. However, return was about a week.

I also remember someone saying that you tend not too get POUG offers for flight that are too far in time. I'm not sure how far in time though.

I have already received a POUG offer for a trip in Dec '15, so I'm not so sure about this.

It depends on the route and sales patterns. It is possible to get a POUG a long way out, but on some routes you need the "degree day" system to flex your way. In other words if 2 months out the service looks to be filling up due to current bookings POUGs may not be offered, but this may then ease off such that at 1 month out, POUGs get offered even though actually more seats have been sold in that interim. Sometimes you can see the sensitivity, a POUG yo-yos in and out on an almost daily basis due to sales staying in line with prediction but right on the edge of availability.

I have POUGs for all my upcoming LHR-BUD Flights, and they seem to be going up:

May'15 is £105, Jun, Jul, Aug & Sept are £120!

The currency depends on the country of booking/departure (unless changed). If you booked a DUB-LHR flight one-way, the system will assume you are in Ireland and charge you in Euros (as with ex-EU bookings).

If the DUB-LHR is part of a LHR-DUB-LHR ticket or similar, the currency will be GBP.

Got POUG offer to upgrade LHR-PVG in Feb from WTP to CW for £440. Won't take it up as I can UUA for about half the price and I don't need the extra TP.
The flight is just before Chinese New Year so the plane is pretty empty, especially in the premium cabins, with at least 8 award seats available in CW!

Just a quickie: I purchased a POUG on the return leg of DEN-LHR. Does that mean that I will not receive a possible POUG for the outbound journey because the ticket is now 'unchangeable'?

Would I be able to phone the Silver line and maybe get some joy on a good upgrade from WTP to CW? My flight leaves on Jan 28th.

Looking forward to hearing any good info! Thanks!

Pro-active Online Upgrade (POUG) tracking and discussion | 2015 thread

POUGing one leg of the booking on a simple return doesn't usually affect your chances of it being offered on the other leg.

Phoning up won't get you a special deal. They're called Proactive Online UpGrades for a reason! If there is a POUG available, it will show in MMB at any time from now until (and sometimes during) online check in. It may not appear at all depending on how full the cabin is (and a number of other metrics which nobody has been able to exactly decode).

Best just to wait and keep checking.
