Just a serious question about last night's show;
Did I hear correctly that T7 at JFK is "the only terminal in the US to be [owned/run] by a foreign airline [BA]".
So BA manage the whole terminal? Hmmm, that might make me less tolerant of the general shoddiness (and the awful 'premium security').

Yes that is correct. Though T1 is operated by a consortium of foreign airlines and T4 is operated by a Dutch led consortoum so methinks some semantics involved !

I won't bother to list the issues - they're all in this Forum.

She didn't appear to abide by their strict grooming standards.
She also didn't appear to take things seriously. (i.e. laughing in mock training scenarios.)
Why should BA give her a chance? Especially when she clearly demonstrated she couldn't handle the simple tasks at hand.

Have you ever worked in an airport? It would be sensible to train him in London first then send him over. First the skills then learning the cultural differences
I have and most people need to know how an airport runs and who does what, it was apparent he didn't know who did what or have anything constructive to say in the meeting.
I had to laugh when he told someone to mention duty free...

I have been in more than a few and I do know people who work in the industry
what they have told me (this is why my reply has taken so long ) is that to run an airport is the same wherever you are
the cultural differences only come into effect on how you deal with certain staff and customers
whatever airport you are running you are dealing with many cultures anyway so I cant see your argument at all

In the episode the guy who was sent to JFK was part of the leaders for business graduate program. They process and train you at Waterside for a few months and then you are seconded somewhere in the network. You can be seconded practically into any business need - check in, cabin crew, logistics, or in this case airport operations. It's a very hands on and "deep end" program.

From what I have seen and heard, I expect that my former colleagues would agree with jacobitetraveller's post.
