I just got it to work in Orlando. I booked online and went to pick up the car an hour later. I did not have the option to prepay. I walked in, credit card and license ready, made small talk to keep her busy, signed a few things and was out the door at $180 for a week vs $330 non discounted price.

Thanks flyertalk!

belfordrocks Mar 25, 2016 11:27 am

Yeah that's more YMMV I think. Another possible reason for my denial in addition to the aforementioned unusual one way was that the code reduced the rate from $2000+ to $220 something. Might have piqued the agent's attention there too.

Results of codes tested

I'm doing a one way rental reservation in Temecula, CA (T1C) dropping off in San Diego, CA (OY1). Here are the AWD codes I tried and the base amount quoted.

AARP A359807.......................$32.39
Costco A108326.....................$31.31
American Airlines K817100......$30.59
Korean Air SkyPass O568200...$26.96

I used the SkyPass code, but there was no place to enter my SkyPass number so I assume I won't get any miles. Rental site is not an airport.

Dates? Pickup/dropoff times?

Anyone got any feedback regarding B999000 ?
Got amazing rates, but searching gave little true experience if it works in practice.

B270898 seems to be the true go-to, BUT B999000 is v tempting!

Based on earlier pages in this thread, B999000 is an AVIS employee code, and ID always checked upon pick up.
B270898 sounds better.
However it seems the name for this code has changed, it is no HP EDS EXCLUSIVE instead of PEREGRINE SYSTEMS. use at own risk

Code Z001181

Has anyone used Avis code Z001181? Everything I've seen says it's just "Good FL rates" but I am wondering if there is anything I need to show to be eligible for this code...got an UNREAL deal for a Suburban SUV in Orlando for a week and it seems WAY too good to be true (about $270 including taxes) - October 26-November 1, 2016.

Anyone have any info? Thank you in advance!

This does seem a very good deal. What are the other restrictions on using this code. Do I have to show ID to be eligible for the code?

Interesting, it's unlimited mileage in the US.

S754600

S754600

Came from a click-thru ad on kayak. saying to save an additional 35%.
Went straight thru to the avis.com website.

For 9 days total airport location this is showing $314.92
Citi code A074800 is showing $285.16

Only $29 difference for a public code, not sure who it is linked to

In France:
"HOLIDAY SPECIAL"

Does anyone know if A442100 is okay for Deloitte alumni? I can prove it if they check.

Used this today from Washington. Saved a tonne for a one way trip south. I'm not American but just chatted with the desk lady and she didn't blink twice.

Thanks heaps, saved me hundreds

Point of information, I booked a rental for the in-laws at LAX using Costco (A108326), and the agent questioned them and asked to see their Costco cards. After my mom-in-law told them that I booked it, he said he'd let it slide this one time.

He then proceeded to give them a really crappy Altima with lots of body damage and 37k miles...:td:

Hmmm, I have USAA in my profile and now any time I go to create a new reservation, I must check a box saying I'm authorized to use the code and that its subject to verification. Perhaps this is a change across more popular codes.

chrisdeaner May 10, 2016 8:56 am

I have a question and possible request for help finding a rate. For the preferred points are the number required for a given reservation based on the rate/price per day or is it the same for a given location/type of rental etc... regardless of the rate code used/total price?

If it is based on rate I'm trying to find a good rate for this reservation:

Pick Up/Drop Off at OGG (Kahalui, Maui, HI).
Pick Up 8/26 around 10:30am
Drop Off 8/31 around 2pm
Car: Intermediate or higher

Best I can find is $242.04 which I can then apply 1,800 points/day to remove the base rate ($27.70) from.

Corporate code miles

How can I use an Avis corporate code without getting killed on miles?
I'm planning a crosscountry trip and they have a miles charge if you use a corporate code?
are there any codes I can put in to fix that?

belfordrocks May 12, 2016 10:12 am

It varies from code to code. Generally the more unusual the one way, the more scrutiny you can expect to face.

Hello all.

I'm hoping to rent a Luxury sedan or Premium SUV from Newark, travelling one way to Miami from Dec 19 for three weeks.

Can anyone provide me with a suitable code or two?

Thanks so much.

Used A515100 (Deloitte) at Dover Docks in England. Was not asked for verification.

Saved me $51 on a one-way rental!

Using this code seems to prevent LDW to be added to the contract. Make sure one has credit card coverage or else you'll be taking a huge risk.

Hi
When did you use it?
Its the best deal i found so far, however it "removes" the coverage at the end.

Protections/Coverages: $53.70
Surcharges/Fees: $2.04
Vehicle License Fee 1.02/day: $2.04

Will they check for Deloitte or HP ID at pickup counter if I use A515100 awd code?

I think you wont, but the problem comes if they remove LDW/CDW

also, what happens if you have an accident?
im really having second thoughts about using this.

damn
:(

Hi,

I'm looking to rent a Volvo XC 90 at Milan LIN from Jun 18 to Jun 25 as Preferred Plus, and my best quote is EUR 584 with H749900 (make a wish). According to Avis's website though, that code should only be valid at participating U.S. locations.

Has anyone run into problems using this code in Europe?

Thanks,
J

I am using AmEx to pay for it, so insurance isn't really that big of a deal for me. Is it true that preferred members go straight to the stall to get the car without going to counter? Then I guess I won't be asked to show ID since I am not going to counter, right?

uclacolumbiaunc May 30, 2016 6:08 pm

Some coupon codes have "blackout date", which isn't clearly defined in the T&C. So what are the blackout dates of 2016?

mak101 May 31, 2016 3:37 pm

I am trying to search rate with B27... code for pickup/drop off at ANC. It brings down great rate but I dont see to any option add additional driver. Is there any other existing code which allow free additional driver?

Thanks.

mak101 May 31, 2016 3:54 pm

Any coupon code I can use with B27... or any other AWD number?
