Depends on your date/location/type of car needed. Best to try any you're eligible for and then submit to AutoSlash.com and see if they can beat it.

The first page of this thread has a list of common Avis AWDs. However, a quick Google search shows that Avis/Hilton ended their partnership earlier this year, so I'm guessing "their" rates aren't great, unless you're a Hilton employee with the employee code.

However, I'd like to use a code that will waive them just in case! I do have the USAA one, which does waive them but it is supposed to also waive the second driver charge and doesn't...

SO does anyone have a code that waives young person fees and allows a free second driver? Our price right now is fine until you add on the $27 a day YP charge and the $13 extra driver charge... I'm taking my boyfriend to meet my family in FL for the first time and it would be great if we could share the drive!

Doubt any would waive both of those fees as they're easy money makers for the rental agencies. If your BF resides with you, Avis should allow them to be a secondary driver for free. I don't see it quickly on the Avis.com page, but they historically allow a spouse or "domestic life partner" to drive the rental for free. To be listed as a DLP, they must share your residence and have proof via driver's license. If that's still the case, then you just need something to try and waive the underage fee. Good luck!

Section 4C of THIS LINK shows the domestic partner is still allowed if you sign up for Preferred Service. As is a coworker (if you happen to both be employed by the same employer). In both cases, the secondary driver must be 25.

Bombardier?

Anyone tried using Bombardier codes lately?

I tried using it during summer in France, didn't get asked any questions when picking up nor returning, but in the end was charged a walk-up rate instead. I am a Preferred member and asked sent a helpdesk inquiry about it later and didn't get any response.

the Finnmeccanica code does not award avios anymore (E027237), it used to be the case up to this summer

And the more free rentals you earn. But we should cut you some slack because you're a very frequent poster here. Your one other post where you posted almost the exact same info a few months ago was very informative as well.

Anybody have experience with codes that offer good discounts on Premium/Luxury/Signature classes? My go-to code from my friend's company brings down the premium rate quite a bit in DAL to $192.50 prior to taxes/fees for a 1 week rental towards the end of the month, but am curious if I can get any more bang for my buck in Luxury/Signature series with another code. I tried several dozen of the codes going back several years in this thread (yes, slow day at work today...) but can't get any of them to beat my current price.

sportsfam31 Dec 14, 2017 5:08 pm

Stumbled upon one that gives great rates for everything standard and under compared to other discount codes. D433300. I have no idea what this is for and when booking, it shows rate code as KU. Anyone have any idea about this? Can't seem to find a thing and wanted to be sure before booking, especially because of the huge discount it provided.

Thanks!

I am a Hilton Diamond and years ago our corporate travel people told me to put in K851000... ever since and so far this seems to be consistently knocking about 9% off the non-discounted rates...

Are the following still good/safe to use? Anyone ever asked for ID/given any trouble?

C062090/C302100 - Bombardier
A074800 - Citigroup employee discount

Scanned a few dozen pages in this thread, have yet to see ID required for either of these. Am looking to rent out of LAX for ~ 5 days in June, cheapest I have found was with C062090/C302100 ($114.00), followed by A074800 ($120). Fees + tax bring it up to about $190 for both... no CDW/LDW as far as I can tell included.

If you just search for "C302100" in this forum you will see that a couple people got asked for their IDs at least for that AWD, whereas others did not have to provide any proof. So it's a gamble.

original for midway avis for two days = $80

AWD A074800 for citigroup leisure travel brought it down to $64
AWD C005100 for hollywood events brought it down to $74
AWD C302100 for Bombardier brought it down to $63
AWD C062090 for Bombardier also was $63
AWD Z921610 for Temple corp was $74
AWD U915590 for Jeld Wen was $76
AWD W222853 for Genes computer service did nothing
AWD A442100 for Deloitte was $77
AWD S057600 for Starkwoods Tech Company has an option for $46 pay it now and $76 at the counter.
AWD A631800 for ??? has a pay it now option only for $52 and $80 at counter
AWD B270898 for Costco was $62
AWD A442100 for Deloittes was $77.50
AWD A440000 did nothing
AWD C062090 for ?? was $63
AWD T757205 for Mastercard holders was $46 pay now and $76 at the counter
AWD A108326 requires costco number so I cant test it
AWD A359811 for AARP Magazine Readers is $39 pay now and $46 at the counter
AWD A108396 requires costco number so I cant test it

I am going with the AARP magazine readers code for pay now at $39, then of course they add in an extra $30 in ........ taxes and fees on top of this (that would be on any code I use), but the AARP readers code was the cheapest.

...omitted...

Did you, for yourself, also account for disparity on mileage between the various codes? Some of the codes I use are very good, but then have a daily limit of miles, while other codes cost more but have unlimited mileage.

COMMONC3NTS Mar 10, 2018 11:54 pm

Usually they are unlimited so I did not pay attention to that. But I normally use the Citi leisure code which is unlimited and the AARP readers code was unlimited.

ellen.l Mar 14, 2018 9:08 am

I am in Toronto. Avis has started asking for employee ID for most corporate codes. I was successfully using one for quite a long time, but that has now stopped and the one I have is not providing nearly the same deals.

Is there a list of working discount codes for folx living and renting in Canada that do not require ID or verification?

I used this for quite a while, but they are now asking for it as a matter of course. The "free ride" as Bombardier employee is over (there's a joke in there for anyone who lives in Toronto and knows they have yet to deliver the streetcars that are desperately needed and were supposed to be in service on our public transportation system atm)

snowboardpunk Mar 21, 2018 10:53 pm

was thinking of using the bombardier code because it drops it in half compared to a few other codes. 95 for two days vs 180 for two in nyc. does anyone know what happens if they ask for your id but don't have it?

You will likely be charged the walk-up rate which will be far higher than anything else you could have booked if you would have used a code you were eligible for. Better to avoid the hassle and use something you actually qualify for.

The citi leisure travel wont need an ID, you say you travel agent gave it to you.
The AARP readers one is just from an ad in the magazine so no ID either.

What dates? What are the rates you're finding that "are not good"?

Have you tried AutoSlash?

I got a really good rate using the Citi Leisure Travel AWD (better than AARP). Is it intended to be available to the general public via travel agents associated with Citi? Or is it for those travel agents themselves? TIA.

It is indented for employees of Citi traveling on leisure (as opposed to company business).

I realised something lately. When I use a AWD code without logging into my Avis account I get a price lower than when I am logged into my Avis Account. Is it possible to book the car without logging in and then add the booking later into my profile?

This is something that can be annoying with Avis' (and sister company Budget) website. I would recommend checking your Avis Preferred profile to see if it's set to add any options like GPS or insurance.

If that's not the case, try booking both with and without logging in and inspecting the pricing section and see if the base rate is going up when logged in, or whether it's some other line item in the taxes and fees section.

Lastly, you can just book with your preferred AWD when you're logged in at Avis and then enter it for tracking on AutoSlash. Our system should find the lower rate. It's possible you will be able to re-book with us at the lower rate and bypass the annoying Avis.com pricing bug. Note that there is a place on the checkout screen when you book though us to enter your Avis Preferred member number.

Visa cardholders discount (B204400)

Has anyone booked with this this year?

Do you have to book using a VISA card or can you pay using a Mastercard and so long as you possess a Visa you're all good?

Thanks

This post was moved as it is not a Hertz code (moved to the Avis forum) and was not relivent to the Hertz young renters thread.

Avis mods, please move the post to the thread that will best fit here.
