I'm looking at a one way rental in South Africa next week, between CPT and PLZ. A515100 (and B270898) both give ok rates for most of the cars (Hhonors is slightly better) but offer the option of a Premium car "contract" at an extremely attractive rate.
As mentioned elsewhere with the Bombardier AWD, this contract is mileage limited, but the amount of miles included seems to vary depending on the exact hour I book the car for, i.e. I get 420 miles included for returning the car at 3pm, and 490 for returning it at 7pm (incidentally neither of which quite cover the distance from CPT to PLZ). The base rate doesn't change, which seems rather strange. (Even adding a full extra day barely changes it.) 1) Changing away from an airport location does *not* change the mileage restriction. Has anyone had experience with this? 2) The confirmation email indicated the mileage limit was in km, not miles (same amount, different unit, i.e. 490 km instead of 490 miles), which is a substantial difference - however logging on to the reservation it continues to appear in miles, not km. Any idea what I will be held to? 3) If I make the reservation for an extra day, so as to include more miles, and then I return the car 'early' will the mileage allowance be pro-rated? There's no indication on the reservation that the mileage allowance is per hour/day. |

The answer may be different depending on whether you're on a daily or a weekly rate. Can you be more specific about the rental period and whether Avis is showing a daily or a weekly rate? |
You may try....................AWD Z063929 posting my own company code...... (SOHI ENTERPRISES).........I have had some good discounts with it (recently used for One Way).....but..........YMMV.......!! Please double check...!!

Whether it's miles or km depends on the country you're renting in. Since SA uses the metric system, all included mileage will be in kilometers.

Can you be more specific about the rental period and whether Avis is showing a daily or a weekly rate? There is no indication as to what kind of rate this is - the reservation simply says the number of days, and then a base rate of $10.27 (this stays the same for a number of different dates in January that I tried). Again this is specifically for a Premium vehicle. |

I assumed it would be in km, as you indicated, but on the Avis (US) website, it continues to show the amount in miles.

Hard to say for sure without seeing exactly what Avis.com is showing. Try pulling up your reservation at:
https://book.avis.co.za/yourBooking -or- https://www.avis.ca/car-rental/avisHome/home.ac Avis' new US website leaves a lot to be desired. (SA site looks quite similar to the US one actually) The whole rate seems strange as it doesn't vary no matter what dates and duration I put in. |

No extra info on either of those sites unfortunately.

I just used A972200 - posted recently. Midsize car rented from one regional airport and dropped off at a different regional airport was pricing at $140 US! With that code I got it down to $50 US!

A552300 (Visa cardholder AWD) sems to also waive 100% of underage fees...
I googled it and it was a promo code that expired on 12/31/16 but for some reason it still works if you try and book a car with it |

Does anyone know why using the Costco promo code (B270898) on the Avis website is half the price of going right to costcotravel?

Look to see if you have unlimited miles included in your rate. If not, you may be faced with an unwelcome surprise... |
Depending on how far away the two regional airports are, even $140 may be a good deal.

It will not show up on the reservation. It's part of the negotiated contract for the AWD#. L093590 has free LDW. Trust me..I've had to use it unfortunately. But if you have an Amex card, I strongly recommend also buying their Premium Rental insurance for $19.95 per rental, as a backup. In your case that would come to about $.95 cents per day.

You can not find it on expedia, the discount was offered me (by expedia when browsing for car rental) because I did some hotel/flight bookings the previous weeks.
Note: I am from Europe and booked om a European expedia site, so maybe this code only works for rentals from Europe with European assurances. The code works for others in Europe anyhow. |
I am trying to book a car in May for LAX. I have been reading quite a bit in this thread noting that the Bombadier codes they usually check for ID. If I am checked, can I just give them one that is valid (like Costco) and they will change it on the spot and it is good? Thanks for your help!

And no, at that point, the jig is up. You've lost. You can't just switch to the Costco code. Either pay the walk-up rate or literally walk with your tail between your legs. There are so many legitimate ways to get a great rate, why bother taking a chance using a discount you're not authorized for? |

There is no code that is more or less likely to get checked when you're using a corporate code you're not authorized for. If the agent is going to check they are going to check regardless if it says ABC Corp Employees or XYZ Corp Employees. Think about it logically.... It's not like they're going to say, "Hmm... This guys looks like he could work for Microsoft, but I just don't see him being a Bombardier guys, so I better make sure."

Thanks, that is what I needed to hear. I am going to be paying about $50 more using a code I am authorized for but that is still better than paying hundreds more when they likely deny my code at the counter.

The discount code used at costcotravel.com is A108326. What makes you think B270898 is a Costco discount code?
I am only entering B270898 as the AWD code and other fields are empty. |

Rates change all the time. Even if you have the best rate available today, there may be something better tomorrow. Best to keep checking use the link below to track it. You may find that you can do even better than the corporate code, assuming that you have a bit of time before your pickup date.
Thanks, Jeff |

I will be in Germany in May and trying to get the best price on Avis. Would I be better off trying to book through the German Avis web site or the US site? Maybe specific codes exist for the German site? It seems I cannot use any of the US coupon codes and apply to my rental at the Munich airport location.
Thanks, Jeff |

Best to check with US and German sites as prices can vary widely. US coupons won't work outside US/CA/MX/PR. There are some deals on the Avis German website here (English translation). You can also use the links below to request a quote from AutoSlash.
Thanks, Jeff |
