I am trying to find a good rate for a FS vehicle @ HNL, pickup midday on 11 Aug and return at 10am on 14 Aug. The best that I can do so far is $120 all in.
All assistance is appreciated. |
Juneau, Alaska
This is my first post, so hopefully, I am following the rules. I have read through pages of posts looking for an Avis discount code for Juneau, Goldbel Hotel location. It is near the cruiseport, which is probably why they do not honor any discounts that I have found. Has anyone had any luck with codes here? Thanks for your help.

I know it gets mentioned many times in this forum to not just book a rental and forget it but to periodically check and rebook as rates tend to get lower closer to the time of pick up. I always do this, usually about a week or two before my rental, and I've really gotten to see this demonstrated over the past week.
I booked a rental car, pick up at IAH, for 3/6/15-3/8/15 (3 days total + free day coupon). I booked a Standard car on 2/25/15 for $24/day ($90 total & same price as intermediate). On the 26th, i checked rates again--intermediate, standard, and full size were all $23/day, so i bumped myself up to a full size and rebooked at the lower price. On the 27th, down another $1/day. 28th, 1st, and now 2nd--all the same story. I'm now down to $19/day ($77 total). Also interesting, Hertz has been matching them every single day. I'm not sure whose rates are driving the others, but it's kind of interesting to see it happen. I'm hoping it continues all the way up to Friday when i pick up the car! |

Trust me, we have north of 100 discount codes for Avis on file and even with our automated system checking them all more often than not come up empty when searching locations in Alaska. It's not just the Goldbelt Hotel location, it's all of them, especially outside Anchorage and Fairbanks--Kodiak, Sitka, Skagway, etc., where competition is less of a factor. If you (hint, hint) work for a large corporation that has a negotiated discount with Avis for its employees, those may work and take a small discount off, but rarely do legitimate affiliation discounts (not to mention promotional coupons) work in smaller towns in Alaska.

But in the rural Alaska locations mentioned by itskeb, we've noticed rates are pretty stable. We've booked cars in Kodiak, Sitka, Skagway, Kenai, etc. and really, rates don't change. Perhaps because competition is so nonexistent, they just set their rates and don't bother to do anything with them until they sell out. But absolutely outside of Alaska, rates change all the time, sometimes as often as hourly, so it pays to pay attention to your reservation. |
Does anyone have anything that would help in BOS, have a wedding in May and compacts are showing up as 300USD for a Thursday-Sunday.

Ok, I've made a booking, the "Pay now" option is not possible, only "Pay at station".
I've got a backup plan at Hertz in case things go wrong But its allowing me to prepay on the "4" screen! IF I prepay, is this guaranteed booking? Can they renege upon arrival? Should I not prepay? Thanks |

Im looking at this code too for Italy.

Thanks Here are the down sides I can see: you don't have an employee ID and you don't even know the name of the company or where the code is from (I haven't figured that out yet - I'll keep looking in my spare time). In addition, the fact that the discount is so large will likely call attention to your rental. However, the very worst that can happen is that they refuse you the rental, refund your pre-payment, and try to charge you the walk-up rate. If they accuse you of wrongdoing, simply claim ignorance - say you didn't realize this was a code that only certain people are supposed to use. In this case, having a back-up reservation with another agency is essential (obviously don't prepay for the backup). Then, if the worst happens, simply thank the Avis agent for his or her time, and make your way to Hertz or wherever you made the backup reservation. |

If that's a corporate code that requires employee ID, they can refuse to rent to you, of course. If they refuse, they obviously have to refund the money you prepaid.

On Amadeus RES, doing a dummy booking with this AWD on different point of sales for the SAME airport (Rome FCO) bring something different each time: ->From the UK POS, this AWD brings a "Travel agency" name ->From Italy, it's FINNMECCANICA ->From Germany, it's EASY EUROPE so I think this is definitely a weird code and one can try to check. I have done a backup booking with Hertz so we'll see. I'm also Preferred and Amex Plat, so they might not be enclined to challenge it :) |
Has anyone had any success with discount codes in Denmark - Copenhagen in particular?

Anyone have luck in Norway?
I'm looking to get a passenger van in Bergen (BGO), Norway for this summer. I can't seem to find any codes that help bring the cost down. Right now this is pricing out at $1084 for 6 days. I'm open to either returning the van to Bergen (BGO) or to Oslo (OSL). Appreciate any help on this - thanks! |

I'm also REALLY interested in how you get on with this code. When are you renting?
If one was to make an alternative reservation as suggested above, but this code was to work ok, could you just ignore the other res, or what? the idea behind backup rentals is the following: Most rental companies allow you, when doing a flex booking, to cancel up to the date and time of departure for no fee. In which case you just book a rental at the backup company half an hour after your scheduled rental for the initial one, if the initial works you can just cancel the backup online at no extra cost (depends on our rental's T&C) |

As Earn up to 1,500 miles and save up to 25%*
From January 1, 2015 to June 30, 2015 When you rent with Avis, you can earn up to 1,500 Aeroplan Miles and save up to 25% off on weekend rentals of 2+ days or weekly rentals of 3+ days.* After using this code, on the bottom of the Car Rental Summary it says "estimated miles: 500". So I'm wondering if I will actually get 1500 through Aeroplan and it just doesn't show on the Rental summary? All of the requirements are met - intermediate car, more than 3 day rental, etc. ***UPDATE - just tried booking using a different city and it showed 1500 so the airport I am picking up must not be a participating location. |

Strange Mileage description
Just used the Citi's code for a one day rental at LAX. It is $20 cheaper than the tried and true HHonors. Booked under Preferred.
However, the mileage description is BOTHERSOME. Mileage Unlimited, Additional mile at $0.79 per mile. Has anyone ever seen this kind of mileage description? |

Sorry for being clueless here, I'm kind of new to this. If I book a reservation online using one of these AWD's will they ask for proof that I'm eligible to use these when I go to pick the car up? Do they ever ask? Thanks...

Still not nearly as good for me for a couple of upcoming rentals as the old standby, A074800
|
side note on AWD E027237 for Italy:
It is flagged as GH FINMECCACNICA on my invoice, so you might get asked questions as this is a negociated corp rate. |
Just found the one on aa.com, K817165, reduced the costco rate by $13 for the week. Combine with some coupon codes of $30USD or $35USD off, my weekly one way rental from YYZ to BUF went from $160CDN to $110CDN.

As a CHM, YYZ is usually pretty good for me if I'm returning there (Q5, BMWs no up charge, and only $20 extra/day for the GLK when I wanted that once). I expected to get crap this time going to BUF. They had me preassigned to an ATS, but the manager told me to "grab whatever I wanted". Since I didn't want to steal their only GLK, I took an A4 (also because I've never been in one of those). I shouldve kept the ATS! |
I'm going to be renting a car in England (from Heathrow) at the end of the month. Can't seem to find any coupon codes, (just AWD codes). Any coupon codes I do use seem to be 'not valid'. Is Heathrow just one of those airports?

Hi!
I intend to book a car in Italy for the first time using the code found here Help to choose between the options, prepayment or payment at the reception just naive question: what's better for trouble-free rent? prepayment or payment at the reception? After reading the forum, I'm not found any cases of failure of prepaid bookings, as well as cases describe problems with the refund .. |
