I'd argue that this is a code worth killing--it associates FTers with a company which no longer exists and which exited the scene under dubious circumstances. I'd much rather be using valid codes from valid companies, so I can at least argue my case at the counter in being "associated with" said company in some way. How can Long Islander (or anyone) deny attempted fraud when standing at the Avis counter using this particular code?

A colleague recently used this in Miami over the holiday, said no problem with pickup or drop off, car was 50% less than any other offering and included LDW..

I'm not questioning the success, just spelling out the situation and outlining risk. And since Peregrine was absorbed by HP, there's probably a comparable HP code worth finding. I'm actually a big risk taker, but I'd be nervous if I ever needed to rely on that LDW for a few thousand dollars.

Anyone know a similar code to MUGA050 that is valid for 2016? The original code expired end of 2015? It gave $40 off on a weekly rental I believe. Thanks!

don't know of one off hand, but i'd recommend just trying MUGA051, -052, -049, etc. Some will be expired, some will be for free weekend days, some will be for $25 or $30 off a week, but you might get lucky.

If you're a Preferred member, you never go to the counter, so who's going to ask you about affiliation with a company whose corporate discount you're using?

Ah shame.

Couldn't believe my eyes when I just tried it for a 2 day rental, and it offered me every category at $50...

Hey I was wondering if any of you have used the USAA rental code with Avis? I used it with Budget and never had a problem but this is my first time using Avis so I signed up with the preferred program and will have to go to the desk to get my rental. Will they ask for USAA membership proof.

USAA gas a lot of codes floating around. I’m sure Google will get you many. Here are two reported in this thread. I’ve never used them. The USAA credit card is easy to get.

A177204 - USAA Insurance Company
A177232 - USAA frequent flyer account

So can anyone report on recent use of the Peregrine code? I am booking for a week in Italy and it is producing fabulously cheap results - wondering if I should chance it.

I noted a colleague had used it without incident in December.. he's APF..oddly he said it also listed LDW as included.

best thing with ANY codes really of question is to have ONE or A COUPLE backups.

If you take this code and get a rate and then pitch it out to #Autoslash you should get near that with other vendors for a backup

pollyprissypants Feb 9, 2016 4:57 pm

Do prices change around quickly? Last week I checked a 7 day rental out of LAS in April and I can't get the same quotes to come up now. I'm using the same codes as last week.

Yes absolutely. Prices can change multiple times a day.

Uh, you're kidding, right?

prices change sometimes HOURLY, it's supply and demand, changes in the weather, changes in schedules, changes in competitor inventory.

Best thing to do is if you see a price you like RESERVE IT, you can always cancel and then pitch it over to something like AS (see above post) and let THEM do the work on tracking for lower prices.

Sometimes I get 1-3 different emails from then AN HOUR when prices are changing quickly. They re-book it all so normally there is nothing to do (unless they offer you a lower price at a different vendor or a different car class) but it really shows how quickly and often sometimes offers change.

Disclaimer: I have NO AFFILIATION with #AS at all, just a happy customer

pollyprissypants Feb 10, 2016 10:08 am

Thanks for the info. I think the last time I rented a car was in 92. So, yeah, I really didn't know. Damn, now I wish I would have booked that. I'll keep checking. Thanks

I got a good rate last Monday with Peregrine's code, Sheraton Waikiki -> HNL airport for one day. One-way fees ($50) waved. No questions asked at all, for those who wondered.

Second best for this was A442100 (Deloitte), otherwise used it successfully in New Zealand in Nov 2014.

bhomburg Mar 6, 2016 2:51 pm

AWD H811101: This Simon Malls promotion originally expired at the end of 2015, but it's back again now, valid for reservations through Dec.31 2016, with pickup dates until Feb. 2017: http://www.avis.de/mietwagen-angebot...prozent-sparen

Good rates in the USA and Canada (only), CDW included, and perfectly legitimate.

Try several EU Avis sites for cheapest results - prices vary.

Best Codes 2016

These 2 codes have been the best for me by a wide margin for US Rentals in 2016:

A442100 (Deloitte)
B270898 (Peregrine)

They have been neck and neck as far discount as well.

Any recommendations for a "safe" code for an upcoming UK one way rental. Going from Dover to London.

Can confirm was recently denied at LAX using this code. Luckily had plenty of backup options so just walked away.

i take it you were denied at the counter, right? for preferred plus, i use this code and others and prepay my reservations. my only interaction with an agent is if i want to change vehicles...

belfordrocks Mar 17, 2016 12:23 am

Yes, denied at counter. I was also renting on a rather unusual one way and this may have contributed as well.

with any code and most locations and preferred or pp, these days I get an email that says "your car is in space A27" or something like that.. at that point I'm pretty confident we're all set with whatever the code is.

always have a backup though.

I have a reservation at SNA this weekend with that code. I don't think SNA is a Select and Go location, so I have to go to counter even though I am PP. Will report back if I get rejected or not as that is the best rate I could find so far.

I work for HP and I can tell you our discount is great, better than any AWD number I've seen on this site, except the employee one. I'm not going to divulge the code because I don't want the code to get killed or anything, but he's an example of the rates I get at one of the airports I frequent:

I work for HPE (dont know if the code is the same) and travel freq..... ive compared the corp AWD code to the 25% AWD leisure code and find the leisure code offers a bit more of a discount.

intl_flyer_2011 Mar 18, 2016 8:27 am

Anybody know what AWD code U915590 is?

Can anybody comment on code U915590? Is this a public access code? I found it on slickdeals but haven't really seen anyone commenting on it.

So far I have gotten my best rates through use of this code coupled with a Costco car upgrade discount code.

Pickup - ABF (Naples Airport)
4/9 at 3:30pm

Dropoff - RSW (Southwest Intl)
4/17 at 5:00 am

Best rate I have gotten all in is $311.

Any assistance would be appreciated, especially if folks see better rates. Thanks!

wildworld89 Mar 18, 2016 12:34 pm

Has anyone had a problem with "A108300". It is a Costco code, and I am NOT a Costco member. However I can't find a code giving me anything cheaper than what that code is offering me. It allows me to prepay on the website so will they still randomly ask me for a Costco member ID at the desk?

Thanks

Code easily found on this thread a ton of pages back, or via google.

QQ, any ID required at check in? The price didn't drop compared to the one from my company, but interestingly enough more car types became available (Full Size) and the Prius dropped like $400. Maybe some type of green car agreement or something?

I know that L093590 is supposed to be Kellwood but I can't find anything on the net giving me a clue as to where K444414 comes from. Anyone notice this and find out more info?

I just got "hit" with K444414 as well. Used an employee leisure code (US-based company, includes LDW) on a rental in Europe, gave a great rate, and upon confirmation it switched to K444414.

Funny thing is... K444414 dropped the price another 10 Euro, so I guess that's good? I really want to know if LDW is still included.
