I tried Avis.be and got the same rate with or without the MSB code. I also tried another code that gives me 30% off on avis.com euro rentals -- no effect.

The problem with euro Avis websites is also that they include insurance, which I don't need.

The NEW code gives me very nice price in FLL. Anybody has experience with either the Expired or the NEW code?

I used this code last week at RDU...gave a much better price than other codes, $27/day...not a bargain but still much better for a busy weekend.
No questions asked...no coupon or ID.

Quite a number of us FlyerTalkers have used a previous version of the Amateur Sports Assistance Program discount, often with very good results. I myself used it a couple of times a couple of years ago, and no ID was asked for.

HOWEVER, it would be good if someone would post more recent experience with it! Things change! ;)

I have used this code again on the Avis Netherlands website, and yes, it still seems to work, saving me nearly 60 Euro's. Only disadvantage I see is that with this code, I still don't get unlimited mileage. (This is for a return to the same renting station)

Also I just found out from Avis, called them, that it is true that (does not matter using this code or not), they do charge one way fees for rental within the country itself. I again find this to be a terrible practice. The reason given was that they need to bring the car back to the station. Has anyone come across such practice in other countries?

NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!!

I am booking a car for an important client (of mine) and the rate of D005297 is less than 1/2 of every other rate I have found. I want to make sure that I don't get him in trouble when he goes to pickup the car.

Is there any I.D. required to get this rate?

Can somebody help me with some advice how to prepare him to pickup the car?

I am not a travel agent but in sales/marketing and trying to help a customer save some $$$ as I will earn big points/business if I pull this off but will get fried if he pays the full rate. So, your advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Anthony

D005297 works well in Europe (30% off) and is the only one right now that has any effect. So that's probably your best bet in SA. The old USC code was 40% off in Europe. RIP.

Many codes only appear to work in North America, like the L code.

MFLetou Nov 17, 2004 12:27 pm

Is that DO code really safe to use? I know others have used it, but what exactly is the relationship between that code and USC.

I don't want to get into an ethics debate or anything, I'm just leery of using a USC code when I have nothing to do with that institution.

flamboyant 1 Nov 17, 2004 1:28 pm

D005297 works great in SA! Thank you so much. 10% discount on Avisworld.com (<-- quicker and more efficient than avis.com for my personal use)

I didn't try to use the regular Avis website, should be the same discount and final price, right ???

Just to reassure readers that I used the USC code this week and it does still give a healthy discount.

Where was this and how did you book?
I assure you that I am sane. I try to book in Germany, for example: check price with no code and then the USC code, and get same result.

Can't guarantee my overall sanity:) , but definitely used at LHR last week. The agent even knocked off the £47 one-way fee. Saved about £20 on the short rental, too. UK Avis website.

I have used the D005297 code in Germany and will be using it again in 2 weeks..Never had any problems..You might sign the person up for "AVIS Preferred" membership if that makes you feel better...I just hand the aget the confirmation..and since I am an AVIS Preferred member they hand me the contract already printed and the keys.

Kranich Nov 30, 2004 2:34 pm

I have rented a car last week in Germany. With the code D005297 I got a 40% discount. The agent asked me if I would work for AVIS. I said "no"

One more code

A7H57Q First Consulting Group

gnaget Dec 4, 2004 1:56 am

So D005927 is 40% now in Germany..... that's the same as the old USC code. Maybe the % varies based on various factors. A few years ago I used another D code, which was related to a small business conference. Suddenly the effectiveness dropped to around 10% from 30-40%.

It is easy to spot the discount in Europe. It's right on the contract.

Also, watch out regarding the use of codes in the US on weekends. Actually avis.com corrects it for you. I was renting in LAX with a very good USD 19.99 rate per day. Since there are no surcharges (off airport property?) in LAX, rentals are remarkbly cheap. However, the normal rate was actually 17.99, so the net amount with tax was around 20. On my contract the D005927 is not there and it was replaced by A888813. This might be the National Motorists Assoc code that I think I originally used when I registered with Avis Preferred. If not then I am curious how it appeared.......

New Discount Rate!!!!

D752500! Is the new rate that I have discovered to give you 30-50% across the board!. International and domestic.

This code is from Endless Vacation magazine/RCI.

Yes, this does seem good. $20 better than the SPG code on a 15 day rental, and $100plus cheaper than most others. Can you describe the code a little more (require membership, need to show a card?).

I might stick with the SPG rate since I know I qualify for that.

Both the SPG rate and the other rate have a catch. Preferred benefits are not available. They say absolutely no upgrades.

Anyone using that rates find they were able to get an upgrade at the counter?

I still use L093590 for all my domestic rentals. I always get a very good rate, all my points and upgrades, and never have a hassle. Plus.. the code gives a $3k maximum liability cap on all damages. At $3k maximum, my credit card company is much less likely to dispute any claims. Just my opinion.....

L093590 Includes LDW?????

Well.. I guess I'll start it off. My most reliable for consistantly low rates, unlimited miles, free LDW, and no hassle is still L093590.

I tried to reserve a car at LAX using the code, but it doesn't say it includes the Limited Damage Waiver.

Are you sure?

I'm positive. Unfortunately I experienced it personally when I cracked up an Avis car last year. Diners Club paid exactly $3000., just as Avis requested. There were no problems/disputes whatsoever.

Wingnut Dec 14, 2004 10:40 am

Am I doing something wrong? I've tried a bunch of recent AWDs and it keeps telling me they're invalid:

D005297
L093590
A7H57Q
D752500

It's a 2 week rental over Christmas, so I can understand if the rates don't apply at Christmas, but that's different from invalid...

Avis Code D086533

I am about to go to England and have rented a car using this code D086533. Any one hear of any problems. I am arriving on Xmas eve and don't feel like getting bounced.

Try D086533, country of residence "New Zealand".

Watch out for the cops in NZ, they are very strict on speeding and they use speed cameras in unmarked cars...

ranles Dec 18, 2004 2:37 pm

Thank you

Thanks, saw Avis thread. Tried some that seem like would not cause a problem, none better than default code (D459000) Will try D086533
ranles.

Booked using code, was about 3% cheaper, but I"ll take it...thanks again. I use USA as residence. I am satisified with a straight up deal.

D005927 = amazing

This code just got my dad a premium car for 67% less than the avis.com rate without the code (and for 40% less than the cheapest full-size we could find elsewhere). I booked it under his preferred account, so hopefully he won't have any trouble. Big thanks to whoever discovered this gem.

Should be D005297, no?

Hmm... no, I just looked at the confirmation e-mail, and it was definitely D005927, which is the same as the code in gnaget's post above. But it works. Shows up as "corporate rate" in the reservation, with no more detail.

I also just spoke with my dad, and he reports that the guy at the Avis counter was really impressed with his rate when he picked up the car yesterday. Luckily the guy was impressed in a "wow, great rate!" kind of way, not a "hey now, wait a minute!" kind of way. ;)

Whenever I used it (always in Europe) it gave 40% discount, but no other benefits. Lots of people here have used it, you won't get asked for any ID. Enjoy! ^

We're going to spring training in AZ once again in March. After seeing the astronomical ad-on fees PHX adds, I came up with the idea of flying into TUS and out of PHX. Much better idea trust me. Anyhoo, I got a decent price with the above code. Do I need to show that I'm in this program above?

Hi all..

First a very happy new year to all! Wishing all Flyertalk members a prosperous and productive 2005!

Well, back to business.. I have just checked around playing with the D005297 code and also the D086533 code for rentals in Europe, particularly here in Belgium and discovered that for this year, the prices have gone up roughly around 10 Euros. Am not sure if this is due to the increase in price of Avis (thus the code are still giving their respective percentage off) or these codes are not giving as much discount as they use to give before.

However, if tried on the avis.com website, the price is still the same as last year. The country of residence does not change much of the rate. So it is still ok to put in your original country of residence..:P

Anyway, thought that this update could be worth the news.

:)
