I'm heading to Italy next week & will be renting from Avis using the same code you used. From what I've read, Italy especially requires this. It's only 10 USD at AAA offices & I'm sure it's about the same prices at CAA offices - it's valid for 1 year & you will be traveling through different countries if your pick up is in Germany - I would recommend getting it. You will need 2 passport sized photos (AAA charged 8 USD to take the pictures).

Better safe than sorry...

I've gotten the following code in a magazine and it's for anybody to use..

D49201

I think it's suppossed to be a 25% discount off rack rate..

if you are renting for a week then add Coupon # MUGG261 for an exrtra $20 off. Minnimum 5 day rental including a Sat. night.

If renting for a weekend, then add Coupon # TUGB242 for a free weekend day (must begin Thurs or Fri and be returned by Monday 11:59 p.m.)

I have the coupon for it the above codes (expiring Aug 31/05), so if you find it works for you, I'll send it off to you..

I just tried this AWD for a four day rental in France and was told it was "an invalid AWD." However, the D005297 mentioned earlier has given a great rate. Beats all others by a country mile.

Well, I tried it again, adding a zero before the 4, making the AWD a six digit number, at it worked. However, the rate quoted was $100 higher than what I get using the D005297 so I didn't pursue it any further.

sargento Mar 15, 2005 4:01 pm

oooppssss.

forgot a number..

it should be D496201

I've tried it in the system and it gives a slightly better price than the D005297 code.

let me know if it works for France.

I've just used this AWD for avis at BUR California and rate of 122.65 for 4 days with a 2005 Mustang :p

Happy Travels.

I'm getting a great rate, with plenty of miles included, using A113400, the FL state employee code.

Has anybody used this code successfully? ID required?

gpan Mar 17, 2005 10:28 am

Remember being a govt code you could end up in all sorts of interesting situations.

Wow! That code just saved me (my company actually) $40 on a 2 day rental in ORD.

This also gave me a good rate on a ONE WAY rental. Has anyone used a government code with no ID checked ?

Many thanks for the D005297 code. It just saved us $214 on an 11 day rental for an Intermediate sized car. ^

Yes, Avis tracks wiz # with AWD. I've had this occur in US. If you want to take the discount that is not tied to your AWD, make res without your info. You won't get your preferred benefits, but hey, what's more import? For me, I'd rather save the $$$. :D

Hey Bob,
I've been trying to use this code...it gives a great rate, but it doesn't include any miles. When you use this code, does it come up as unlimited miles or as no miles included?

Thanks for your help.

I found that this code K024300 (US Air Dividend Miles) gives the same rate as the Walmart codes but with FF miles, too.

I've done it and had no problems.

I tried booking a car in western europe via the internet using the code & stating I'm a USA resident. The rate quoted is the best I've found so far, beating AAA & AARP rates.

If I am able to complete the booking, is there any way Avis can refuse to rent to me using the D005297 code when I show up at the airport in europe?

I doubt that they would refuse to rent to you in the unlikely event that they don't accept the code, all they would do is charge you the full rate.

I have never had a problem and I have never heard of anyone having a problem with D005297.

Enjoy your trip! ^

Awd D005291

Out of curiosity, I called Avis and asked CSR where this one came from, she stated "meetings with American Airlines". It is good for 40% discount (at least with my Swiss rental).

$14.99/day at Avis with no discount code

Tried Bob1008's L093590 in Skagway, Alaska, and it worked fine, reducing the rate from $67 to $53.

But when I tried it on a weekend day in LA, it quoted something in the mid-$20's (smallest car), but when entering no AWD at all, I came up with $14.99, which seems to be the best rate on 7/23 among any major agency and probably the lowest I've ever paid for a rental day.

This Code Worked Great for PHX in May - D496201

[it should be D496201 I've tried it in the system and it gives a slightly better price than the D005297 code.]

I just used this code for 2 car rentals in PHX in mid-May and it gave us significantly lower rates than just using our AAA. Of note, it worked fine with our AAA code. I reserved 2 SUV's (Chev. Trailblazer or similar) and these were cheaper than the Intermediate and Full Size cars. I could have gone even $20 lower than that by reserving the Intermediate SUV, but I've driven that Pontiac Vibe before and it "wasn't my cup-o-tea" Just flat out didn't like it, (no offense intended for the FT-er's that might be Vibe owners.

Thanks for the code! ^

Discount code for Cancun/Playa Del Carmen

Does anyone know of a good code to use in Mexico?

norodnik Apr 25, 2005 5:33 am

just made a reservation with D005297 and it reduced the price from £156 to £116 which is pretty good.

Just out of interest, I checked the T&C's and it made no reference to using an AWD at all (whether valid or not). I also had a brief look at the website and all I found was some instruction saying to put in an AWD code if you have one (again, did not mention whether valid or not)

Where does it say about entitlement and proof or otherwise?

Will post back after May 10th as to whether I had any hassle with the above.

Always has unlimited miles. L093590 is still my alltime favorite for consistant low rates in the U.S.
