PUCCI GALORE May 12, 2006 5:35 am

Too long have I lurked without thanking you all for the excellent work done here. There is a code that has constantly beated the BA Exec code at every level and which is always a great deal cheaper and that is D086553.

My husband (aka Him Indoors) has to rent frequently in Europe and this code has always beated everything else. I recently tried the much vaunted T111949, D0005927, and B149870. All were about the same for 9 days in Italy and all of them were about 50% higher than the D086553. Whilst I never stop shopping around I am well pleased.

Thank you again.

The Viking May 12, 2006 3:50 pm

I do agree with you, but a word of caution regarding the D086533; as ezmonee has pointed out, this code is probably allocated for a limited number of rentals throughout a year for a certain corporation, and violation can (and in my instance have )been/be tracked.

Hi Viking, could you please elaborate more on your statement and your (unfortunate) situation using this (Marshall School of Business) code? I was preparing to book a rental in Sweden using this code after reading the entire thread, as it gave an excellent rate. In general, I haven't noticed any warnings associated with this AWD (unlike, say, when using an Avis employee code). No could I find ezmonee's post to the same effect.

Also, the corporation in question would be, I guess, Marshall School of Business. Why would be only a certain number of rentals allocated to this code? I know, for example, that my bank has a negotiated AWD code (I think it gives 15% discount or so) and this was done to bring down rental costs and thus encourage a greater use of Avis rentals, not the other way around.

I am looking for a one-way rental from DC to New Hampshire. How can you get around the one-way drop-off fee of $185 that Avis charges?

fishee May 14, 2006 10:49 pm

To avoid issues with AWD ID questions, I asked AutoEurope to match the rate after reserving on AVIS online. They emailed me back saying they would match the rate (actually beat it by $5) and I pre-paid. AutoEurope is a reliable consolidator in Europe that works with Hertz, Avis, etc. I'm still picking up at an AVIS office, renting through AVIS, but the rental is prepaid. No concerns about questions this way.

I have seached....if an answer to my question is here, I missed it.

I want to use A074800 CitiFinancial in Alaska in July. It does return the lowest rate.
Is there anything required of this code? Who is it intended for? I will be picking up two cars at 1am and sure do not want a problem.

The second choice would be D005297 Sports Assistance. The same question here?

I don't see any negative posts about either one being a problem..but maybe I am just missing them.

Sadly, confusion arises (not for the first time with AA25 promotions :( ).

From the terms and conditions:

Up to 6,250 bonus mile per rental anniversary offer valid from 05/01/06 to 12/31/06 in the contiguous U.S., Canada, Latin America, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

Good, so my Canada rental in June qualifies :) .

BUT:
Offer is available for U.S. and Canadian residents only for rentals at participating locations in the U.S.

So NOT Canada then, nor for me as an 'alien'.

What are they on about? I've booked with Alamo, bonus miles (I hope) and a lower rate.

Usually, citizenship is never checked at the counter. You can do one thing. Make two reservations. One with Alamo and the other one with AVIS. In case of problem at the AVIS counter go to the Alamo counter. ;)

Hi,

May I enquire as to what you actually did? I think I might try this one (being in Europe). Do you rent, then fax in or email proof? Do you need to supply AutoEurope with the code?

I'd be obliged if you could run through it step by step, either here or in PM..

Thanks,
Yossi..

Thanks - only... What is a voucher number? (I admit I'm dense)

carbonaddict May 31, 2006 1:54 am

TheViking - could you elaborate on your enigmatic comment about Marshall? Incidentally, those of us those who use the Holiday Inn forum will know that the companies do lurk on these boards and, as a result, take action to prevent 'misuse' of codes.

Retale_88 May 31, 2006 9:15 am

Well, when you make your AutoEurope reservation--they provide you with the "voucher"....which is probably like a confirmation or reservation number. (They price match after you make the reservation with them.) There is no cancellation penalty that I can see, if you change your mind. I've never booked with AE, but am about to soon.

Problem I'm having is that I can get a killer rate with one of the Avis codes, without insurance or any extras. But as soon as you add CDW, liability, etc, the rate more than doubles (in my case)! And at that point, it actually becomes higher than AE's "inclusive" rate (with insurance coverages already added). And, of course, in order for them to price-match, gotta compare apples to apples. C'est la vie....

Autoeurope's beat rate does not always work. I guess the company is just full of BS :( For me they sended the reply below:
---
Auto Europe would like to thank you for your request.

Even if we try to adapt our offers to the market, it is unfortunately to say that we cannot match your request as we would then be in negativ profit that is of course not allowed.

May you have any question, please contact our Team.

Does anyone know of any Avis discount coupon code that's usable for a free day, am renting for 5 days at LAX.

Thanks,

Wow, that's good to know, thanks for chiming in. I'm curious what their rate was vs. the competitor's that they couldn't match? Thanks

The Entertainment Book has a free weekend day coupon. Note that the rental details on the back of the coupon are: Thursday pickup and drop off by Monday 11:59 pm.

Personally, I'd look for the "free tank of gas" coupon instead, also in the Ent. Book. Or you can read over the following thread for online access....FREE (Entertainment 2006) SaversGuide. Various Avis coupons are available there.

Ohio State U Alumn Rate?

I'm trying to book a one-way, less than a day, Full-Size or Standard-Size from EWR to PIT for June 30. I've come across this OSU Alum rate of V655435. The prices looks good SS for $101 and FS for $106. Anyone know if they'll ask for an Alum card? Anyone have a better rate?

Quite interesting with this code an Israeli residence there is a $100 fee for one-way while US residence has no such fee. Guess I'll use my US driver's license.

I know that this question has been asked a hundred times but I am getting excellent rate with D005927 (not 5297) and would like to know what to tell the agent if asked about this code. I have searched and searched to no avail. Does anyone know who's code this is???

Isn't that the Amateur Sports code? I know there was an issue about transposed numbers, but let's face it, I'm too damn lazy to look now.

I always thought the amatuer sports code was the one to beat, but when I booked through the Entertainment Book free codes on another thread, I was able to get a (barely) cheaper deal and get a car two classes better.

Thanks, you should have not even posted, you're probably falling off your chair exhausted from all of that typing.

I am aware of the search feature, and have used it. Just because the number was transposed does not mean it is for the same thing. Which is exactly the question I asked. Is there someone out there that actually knows what the 5927 (not 5297) code is for?

D005927 National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees

I tried T111949 last night for a rental in Austria, couldn't get Avis to issue a quote. Said "Invalid AWD".

Easy there, Tex. I remeber using both codes when I checked out a rental and neither one beat the legitimate one I used. Obviously, a different AWD number would go to another organization.

Keep checking. Odds are you can beat the sports one.

My motto: "There's always a better deal out there."

AWD for convertible

I'm wondering if anyone knows an AWD or coupon number that significantly reduces a $100/day rate on a convertible in July in the DC area. I've tried everything in the thread.

Delta beating USAA (promo with 20% off standard weekend rates & 250 SkyMiles per day)

Below please find a few codes that matched or beat USAA's A177204 to give me the lowest rates I could find for several different weekend rentals at off-airport locations in the Austin, Texas area. With the exception of the USAA code - I didn’t find the below codes anywhere else in this forum or thread.

All discounts compared to standard weekend rate (without an AWD number)

gave me 15% off
B723712 International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees
B381920 Travelers Advantage
B021600 Wal-Mart edition Rand-McNally Atlas
A177204 USAA

Of the above codes - I feel that Wal-Mart's is probably the safest as it’s available to the general public. The other codes may require proof of affiliation such as a membership card.

gave me 20% off
K817625 Delta Airlines SkyMiles
Available to the general public - this appears to be a promotional AWD number - valid only until 31 Dec 06. It's also offering 250 SkyMiles per rental day for qualifying rentals of a minimum one day at participating Avis airport locations and up to 25% off standard weekend rates. Learn more at...
http://www.avis.com/AvisWeb/html/par...=aviscom_delta

Please reply with your experience with any of the above codes.

jabez Jun 14, 2006 8:07 am

Interestingly, I'm trying to book denver in July and no discount code changes the rate. This is the first time that I can recall where the same rates pop up no matter what the AWD is.

Hawaii

I will have to go look at my rental contracts, but the Avis folks extended to me the kama'aina rate which put my midsize car at $35 a day.

If I find the sucker, I'll let you know for the Hawaii stays.

Oh, if you are going to Oahu, GET THE LDW. I had a long term rental and on the 3rd day some mother f@#$ smashed into my left side mirror while parked in the tiny garage @ the Ward Ave Shopping complex.

Worked well at YYZ. Thanks :)

P.S. Below I posted an alternative that gave me the same rate, but included 1000 miles, instead of 250 per day. (for my 3 day rental, that's an extra 250 miles ^ )

1000 Delta miles, and a 10% Discount through 12/31/06

AWD: K817600

Coupon #: UUAA036

It seems that this also allows for a one class upgrade. A saturday night stay seems to be required, but I don't know if that applies for everything or just for the upgrade.
