?

I just don't get it, but I hope it never ends.

rack up another sucess for the ASAP rate.

I was in Chicago, trying to FLY OUT! and all the flights were delayed, or cancelled so after two hours waiting, with four more unexpected hours to go we decided to just drive back to the rents and try tomorrow.

So, looking for a quick car rates were 70$, 69$, 65$, one day pick rate. I could have probably just gone to a counter to see what I could do, but thought I would just go online to AVIS and try some rates.

Tried some rates, and THEN tried the ASAP.

Cheaper by 10-25$ from all the other rates.

ended up with an intermediate for 49$! I could have gone compact for 47$ but figured I would rathere pay the 2$ and get a bigger car guaranteed.

I hope it never ends!

What is the ASAP rate? What's the code for it? Can anyone use it?

Hmmmm... just checking Avis rates out of BNA and it looks like the 1000-mile rate is a bit (about 8 percent) more expensive than the 250-mile-per-day rate.

I went with fewer miles on my 2-day rental (500 vs. 1000) in order to get the cheaper rate (68.65 all in for an intermediate vs. 73.56).

I'm looking for a good weekend code for Mexico. I search the other rental companies and they're quoting $11 per day. The cheapest Avis is $30. Every time I don't use Avis, though, I get burned.

I went to the special AAdvantage25 webpage, but it just tells you the promo is over, and I can't find this special listed anywhere on the AA pages.

Very good news - I have tried this discount code for a 2 week rental I am planning in Malaga, Spain - seems I am being quoted 40% off.

A question - were you charged any other fees renting in europe? For example, the quote includes CDW , BUT, WITH AN EXCESS - I have no idea what the excess is.

I am sure they will try and sell me insurance to waive the excess - any idea the cost?

Any other taxes to pay? Quote says VAT is included, but i have heard they also charge airport taxes in europe.

Any other help/advice appreciated

The promotional coupon for the bonus miles was only applicable to bookings made by May 31. I believe you can still use the 25% discount, but you won't be receiving the bonus miles.

Retale_88 Jul 5, 2006 9:44 am

D005591 worked nicely for a 40% discount on a weeklong rental in France. No questions asked, not even an eyebrow raised. :)

Has anyone ever reported a rejection or even a question to show "ID" (besides using the Avis employee AWD)?? I bet that the associated entity with each AWD isn't even shown on the screen that the desk agent sees. But let's say they do know that I used code D005591 and that is apparently tied to the National Council of Youth Sports -- how do you imagine they are going to "police" the verification process across the world? They're not....it just isn't feasible.

Oh, and I tried to get AutoEurope to price-match, but they could only go so far as their cost -- and couldn't touch the 40% off rate via Avis.

Good luck!

ajnaro Jul 5, 2006 11:12 am

An AVIS phone representative told me that D005927 is for the Institute of Bankruptcy Judges. For the booking I was making it turned out to be no better than Sam's Club.

They did ask for the alum card. I didn't have it. They asked if I had Sam's club or anything else. In the end my AAdvantage card did the trick.

K817625 Delta Code

They have changed this offer from 250 miles per day to 250 miles per rental.

I rented and didn't receive the miles so I protested, and even though I have a printout of when the offer read '250 per day', they are not accepting. So my 20 day rental (5000 miles expected) ended up getting me 250 miles. And I could have gone with Alamo for 40 bucks less!

All discounts compared to standard weekend rate (without an AWD number)

gave me 15% off
B723712 International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees
B381920 Travelers Advantage
B021600 Wal-Mart edition Rand-McNally Atlas
A177204 USAA

Of the above codes - I feel that Wal-Mart's is probably the safest as it’s available to the general public. The other codes may require proof of affiliation such as a membership card.

gave me 20% off
K817625 Delta Airlines SkyMiles
Available to the general public - this appears to be a promotional AWD number - valid only until 31 Dec 06. It's also offering 250 SkyMiles per rental day for qualifying rentals of a minimum one day at participating Avis airport locations and up to 25% off standard weekend rates. Learn more at...

Please reply with your experience with any of the above codes.

k817625 has been changed to "250 miles per rental" , not "per day"

I've used K817625 on three occasions in the past month. All rentals have been for a 24 hour period midweek. Nice to get the 20% discount, plus the SkyMiles. No problems/hassles whatsoever.

40% Discount - thanks

As a first timer - at booking direct - thanks to all who have posted AWD codes. I needed a car in Trabzon (Eastern Turkey) where Avis are the only major represented. Research via Flyertalk produced 40% discount from all of the following codes (booking via avis.co.uk): A153700 (yes, that one!), D005591, D005927, D086532, D086533.

For no particular reason, I used D005927. No queries, no ID, no raised eyebrows - but it saved me £123.20 (say $227) on a week's (local Group G Ford Focus - the best they had) rental!

The mystery code came up on the invoice (as AWD D0059027) as "CSG Holiday Special" - whatever that means!

Thanks again for the help. :) :) :)

This is the only one posted in the past couple weeks which made a difference for me- the others gave a 15 cent discount on a 7 day rental; this gave a class upgrade. On-line didn't accept the coupon number, so I'll have it handy when I pick up the car.

Thanks,

Where did the A153700 code come from? I used it for Kauai and Maui and the rate is amazing. Does anyone know if I need any ID? Thank you in advance.

yes!

yes, this code just put my five day weekend in PDX from 210 to 135.0

need to look it up.

DANG!

AVIS EMPLOYEE discount rate, would probably need ID for that.

Welcome to Flyertalk. If you look up above, you'll see there's a "search this thread" menu that does what it says. If you search for A153700, you'll quickly learn that this is the Avis employee rate and while occasionally people get away with it, this is the one code where the folks at the counter consistently ask for proof that you are an employee, and they will charge you full retail if you can't produce it.

In short: don't use the code if you're not an employee. Take a look at page 22 of this thread to see what I mean.

Code B021615 & D005297

I'm renting a car one way from Redmond, OR to Orange, CA - tried various codes and B021615 seemed to be the best all around. The other codes I tried are listed below

B021615 – $53 – unlimited miles

L093590/ T111949 – $49 no miles (.40 per mile)

D005297 – $56 - unlimited miles

A541254 – $37 no miles (.40 per mile)

Just thought I would share

To follow up real quick, I just went to www.islandair.com, and got the code of D802300 which gives great rates for all of hawaii, they also have other discounts on the site, enjoy.

FYI I've been trying to find a D Class rental 22-25/09/06 from Surfers Paradise.

After a base rate of $164.37 for 2 days, 20 hours, I tried the following codes:

K851000
L149332
D002807
L093590
D005297
D086689
L237904
A735600
D086533
D496201
D005291
A153700
X212600
D752500
A451348
L282800
A888813
A888813

They all did nothing.

A113400 lowers it to $156.89
K501300 lowers it to $149.42
and D005591 lowers it to $134.46

I rang Avis and played dumb, offered D005591 and the CSR offered that this was "Schneider Publishing"Schneider Publishing's rate.

Does anyone know if I'll need an ID to use this code?

I don't think so. I used it a couple of weeks ago for several rentals in France w/o any problems.

I used the Island Air code for a rental in Honolulu and saved about 40%. In addition, I'm supposedly getting 10 iTunes songs. Code is D802300.

I entered my UAL FF number, since I have the most miles there already. How are those miles calculated? Is there a better deal with a different airline?

I tried your code at the Avis site and it came back as invalid. Did you do it differently? I wasn't sure since you also mentioned UL in your thread. Are you supposed to be an Island Air employee to use this? Will they check?

I had no trouble using it at all.

First of all, log out of MyAvis and then go to the www.islandair.com. They have links to discount car rentals. Click on Avis, and select your dates. Don't enter your Preferred number.

The AWD box will automatically be populated with the D802300 code.

I managed to get an intermediate for 10 days in LIH for $330, all in.

CKARMA99 Jul 31, 2006 10:52 pm

Please help me out on this!!!

When you enter the discount codes, does the site automatically show you the discounted price, or do they only tell you when you go to pick up your car?
I am asking because I keep trying all the different codes posted but the rate it gives me is the same all the time.

Thanks in advance for helping out!!! ;)

Welcome to Flyertalk CKARMA99,

The discount should show straight away. I just priced a 1 day in Chicago for later this week and a Mid Size was about $52 but enterning D005297 brought it down to $30 plus tax etc! What a bargain!

Check you are entering the code in the right box, the top one of the three and if copy/pasting make sure there are no spaces copied over too as this can sometimes upset databases.
