This code dropped my rate about 40% on a one-way SLC-LAS (June, not last-minute). I am worried about it, though.

The reservations page says it is a corporate rate, rate code QL. What company? If insurance is included in this rate, as it often is in corporate rates, am I gtting myself into trouble in case I have an accident?

EDIT: Well, never mind. I looked at the printout again and NO MILES are included; every mile is $0.40. What a deal!

Does anyone know where L282800 comes from?

Got a full size 3 day rental in toronto a total of $80 cad for next weekend

There's a very handy feature on long threads like this called "Search this thread." Try typing the code in there and you'll see it's been discussed quite a bit in this thread.

Have you taken your trip yet? Were you asked to show a card?

Some details about the code here:

USAA is a fantastic rate, USAA protects that rate and added benefits. LDW included, Free additional drivers, lower GSO refuel prices, automatic acceptance insurance replacement among other things. In return, the USAA member MUST show one document or credit card with their name and USAA's name on it to get access to all of the above.

Plus, USAA regularly cross checks their database with names of people using their code. Anyone not matching is subject to price revisions.

The Viking Apr 21, 2006 6:54 am

And with ezmonee as a certified lurker (albeit providing extremely valuable insight to the Avis forum), I would think that the usage of USAA AWD will now be scrutinized even closer? ;)

dhacker Apr 21, 2006 10:27 am

The USAA codes cuts more than 50% off the next rental I'm look at. Wonder whether my very old USAA credit card account is still active. If not, it might be time to apply for a new one.

BAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

no, it doesnt quite work that way. But anything said in this forum can be read by anyone in the company from QA to the janitor.

Thats the problem about public forums. Good...lotsainformation. Bad...the very people that you are trying to "beat" can see your tactics.

How do you think AWD's that once were fantastic suddenly die?

Thanks for all of the info, ezmonee. Your posts are consistently among the most useful here. Any similar thoughts about ID requirements on the "Beringpoint/Jericho" code posted a while back? (A541254)

How do you tell which org / corp the code is from ?

I tried to read back many pages about how you can find out where the code is from when you make a reservation, you would be able to see what it is ... I cannot find the posts about how to do it.

Does anyone know ?

The known Citi Travel group gave a reasonable rate for renting from EDI, but another code from unknown source seems to work quite a bit better.

Also, Avis gave price quote in USD, instead of GBP. However, the base rate and the tax shown, does not add up to the estimated total, which is a good 37% higher than the sum of shown rate and tax. Rate is $80.39, 17.5% tax shown $20.68, but the estimated total is $138.84 - $37.77 unknown tax and fee. What hidden charges they do not show ?

btw, L282800 came back higher than the Citi Travel Group and the Sport Group.

try E400000.. this should be a code for airline employees which give wonderful discount at some places

No love for SLC?

Anyone know of a code that works in SLC? I've tried most of the codes in this thread and all seem to come back with either a ridiculous rate $50 a day for a compact or the have an (L) next to the rate and don't appear to be any discount at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you check on Avis.com within the DEALS category? There is a link to various cities and locations, including SLC. Looks like you use AWD number K202100 but not sure how much of a discount that code yields.

avis code for renting in floride from france

hi,

we used to rent car from avis from europe for usa states. We noticed that price was depending from the european web site we made our car booking (avis.de, avis.fr, avis.es....). Until now, avis.de offered the most lowest rate.
This time I recheck for our next vacation in florida next august and avis.de offers no more the lowest rate.
I was looking for awd code for this car rental (30 days in florida) (rental from europe) but I can't find one's valuable. As anyone any valuable code ?

Other question : has somebody tested to take a car insurance not by avis (for exemple by http://www.insurance4carhire.com/) ?

Thanks for your answer,

Sandrine

I guess I'd better carry around my insurance card or something (I usually leave it in my own vehicle). It would be ironic if somebody actually entitled to a discount was hassled.

FWIW, I'll be shocked if I actually ever get asked for USAA ID. Nobody has ever asked me for proof on any other car rental discount code.

SAFLYER66 Apr 27, 2006 9:24 am

I called a friend of mine that works for USAA she stated she has heard they Cross check

I will continue to use the one I have used for years.

I like having privileges when ever one tries to beat the system everyone gets punished that is how I see it

Not sure T111949 needed three posts in a row, but hey, now you're over 100...

Just finished a D005927 rental in New Zealand, <$800 NZD for 2 weeks, beat out even the local guys for a comparable car class.

You got it!!!! :-)

SportsTech May 1, 2006 8:31 pm

Just made a reservation for 9 days in Austria in late June, and the D0005927 code came up a quick winner (more than $300 cheaper than 5297 or L282800 !)

I did a search for 5927 and no one (help, ezmonee?) seems to have reported who or what this code relates to. Is there any recent experience with it?

And while I'm asking for help, the completed reservation form offers liability insurance - something that I thought was generally included in European rentals. Does anyone know whether Austria is different? Do I need to pay the extra $18 a day? Thanks all,
ST

5927=Amateur Sports Assistance Program

I've been using their codes for years. They used to have a different one. It's not always the best, but usually is. I had great rates in Italy as well.

I thought 5297 is the Amateur Sports Assistance program, 5927 was discovered by accident, that someone transposted the number when booking and discovered it. You should be able to find the post about this a few pages back. The OP was doing a booking for his dad, and mis-input the code. Voila. Nobody knows what it is for.

Correct, 5297 is the ASAP code, and worked brilliantly last fall, not so well now. As far as "Nobody knows what it is for", I'm betting that ezmonee will be able to answer the question!

Using D005927 as non US resident

Hi

This is a fascinating forum! :) As an Irish resident I was wondering if anyone not living in the US has used code D005927 successfully. On the Irish Avis site for a Heathrow car the price goes from E108.5 to E80.14, and on Avis.com it goes from E110 to E74.82, brilliant if I can use it. ^ Thanks for your help.

Any updated coupon codes (not AWDs)? Trying to book coinciding with AA's 25th promo, and none of the coupons listed here are valid anymore. Online search didn't reveal anything either.

Code for cheap rental in Kona,Hawaii needed

Hi,

I am trying to get a decent rate for a mid-size or larger in Kona,Hawaii. I have tried the big rental sites, priceline, hotwire, and some of the codes on this forum but the cheapest is a base rate of $76 for 2 days.

Details on what I'm looking for:
Any rental Company
Midsize or larger
May 15-17,2006
KOA (Kona airport, Big Island, Hawaii)

If anyone can help I appreciate it, I really don't want to pay $30/day for a midsize.

Thanks.

themicah May 6, 2006 10:59 am

Not quite sure what this has to do with Avis discount codes, but...

$76 all-in for Thrifty and Dollar looks to be about as cheap as it gets those days. You could always check their websites to see if there are any better deals, but most coupons and whatnot are for weekends, not mid-week rentals.

You can also try bidding on priceline a little cheaper than that. Try bidding for a full-size at around $22/day. That works out to about $63 all-in on PCLN. It'll probably be rejected, but I can't imagine you're going to get much cheaper than that for a mid-week rental.

nmenaker May 6, 2006 12:42 pm

yes

yes, 75$ ALL IN with the taxes on kona is good. I think there is a 3-5$ a day surcharge there, so that is something. Plus taxes, fees, airport renevation charges etc.

Last time I was there, in April, I paid 165$, 195$ after taxes and fees for a full size week. When I arrived they were stating walkup was 35$ before taxes and fees, so that would have been more.

personally, for that amount, I wouldn't even do the PCLN dance.

Happy May 6, 2006 10:08 pm

$75 is good rate.

I have a weekly at Maui and that is $190 for a economy, or $220 for a midsize. So your $75 is not a bad rate at all.

I would not go PCLN or hotwire route because of the insurance credit card provided. There is a high probability you may incur damages in Hawaii rental - break-in is not uncommon, for example. You would not get the benefit of credit card rental insurance should you go PCLN route.

JW74 May 7, 2006 2:39 pm

I did some checking for you (i live in Kona) and found that 30 a day for midsize is about the going rate for the "better" rental companies in kona. At this late in the game, your better off sticking with that. When I drove by Alamo yesterday, ( a friend came into town), the line was out the door. Thrifty was so so, National was busy. Budget was busy, Avis was pretty empty as well as Hertz. So in retrsopect, you may get what you pay for. Long lines and cheap rates. Short lines and slightly higher rates.
