The "250 miles per DAY" bonus with Avis/ Delta Skymiles seems to be BACK. For a while they changed it to 250 miles per RENTAL, now the promo is back reading "250 miles per DAY". If you are renting for 2 weeks this gives you 3500 bonus Skymiles ! Be sure to print out the offer. 2 months ago they tried to give me only 250 per rental after the fact, but I faxed them the promo ad and they re-adjusted.

AWD # K817625,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, through Dec 31, 2006

This AWD also gives great discount rate

Is this just a one-day rental? I used the Hertz one-way coupon recently and paid $59 total for 3 days one way. Probably expires dec 06 however. The deal was on the Hertz website.

Where is the one way coupon on hertz.com? Couldn't find it under Special Offers.

Much discussion has been posted here about this code. Here is my experience:

I have used a variation of this code on my last ten rentals with absolutly no hassles at all. The variation: A153720.

While it is still a Avis Employee discount code, my belief is that is a Cendant Employees discount code. Cendant is the parent company of Avis & Budget.

As with any code that may be questioned, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I tried searching but did not find anything but I'm sure this has been covered before

What is the legality of using these various codes?. I'm thinking in particular of if one has an accident or the car stolen could Avis insurance refuse to pay up on the basis the "correct" rate had not been paid, ie a discount had been obtained by false means?.

Has anyone got any actual experience of this?

Well.. I guess I'll start it off. My most reliable for consistantly low rates, unlimited miles, free LDW, and no hassle is still L093590.

Tried this quote last weekend but LDW was not free. Are we sure there is a discount code that includes it? I would be interested in knowing. I was showing the option of 22.99 a day (higher than the weekend daily rate) for this.

Some codes, many codes include LDW with the quote if you enter that you are from another country. It doesn't necessarily mean that the LDW is "free", just that it's included in the rates quoted.

For instance, I noticed some avis rates coming up in dollars and some car classes in Euros, on the same avis quote. if you choose one of the "dollar" sizes of cars the LDW is not included. If you choose Euros, the rate is much higher for that car, but LDW is included.

This year, K817625 is consistently coming up with good Avis rates and is listed on the Delta website so you don't have to "fear" using it. Just become a Delta FF member (for free online, it's quick) and you're set.

Didn't come up with 35% for me, more like 15%. The 25% code (k817625) worked better for me.

I'm picking up on Thu 10 pm and returning Sunday morning -- rather than 3 days it says, 2 days and 11 hours. Will this count as a three day rental even though I'll be returning half a day early? thanks to anyone who knows and to madhouse for posting.

Been reading thru posts, going ot Kona in Dec for 2 weeks, looking to rent minivan for family. Any good codes?

Had a minivan booked with my preferred number it gave base rate $755, tried it with D005927 and Doo5297, one came out at $600, the other $610. Anyone had recent problems with these codes?

Thanks in advance.

I used the code downtown Boston this past Thursday. I chatted up the agent and was never questioned, but who knows why.

It was by far the best deal. Saved me $20 on a one day rental.

Thanks to bowlernme for the tip!!!

I "took the risk" and used this code over the weekend for a 2 day rental. I got to the counter and presented my reservation code, the girl looked it up and asked me for a "letter of introduction" I told her I had no clue what she was talking about that I didn't book my own travel. She commented that the AWD number was missing.

She began to process the rental and asked me who I worked for (in a small talk type of convo) I remembered this e-mail and told her I worked for Cendant. She asked how long, I told her 3 years, she said she had been with Avis for 10 and continued to tlak about various events in the company. I got the car and the rate without a hitch, but was pretty nervous on the inside, but I guess I pulled it off. Got a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse for $51.40 for 2 days. Not bad, fun little car.

I will be renting next month in AUS and NZ. Did wonder why I was being asked online what country I am from. For the purposes of renting a car, why should it matter what country one is from? The deal may change with the answer to that question? I have never encountered this in the past, but maybe they knew without asking and that was somehow taken into account, though I was unaware of it.

BTW, any suggestions for rentals in AUS and NZ as to how to get the best rates there, what credit card to use for insurance coverage, etc.?

Another AVIS code...

I didn't notice this one in your list of codes, but try A415900. I don't know what it is, but apparently I used it the last time I rented a car from Avis. (It was printed on our receipt.) In any case, by opening up several tabs on my browser with Avis on each one... this code gave me a better rate on the Subcompact and Premium rentals. (158.. to 151.. on SubC - 237 - 220 on Premium). Other codes I used from your list gave me the same numbers as the higher of these two rates. (These rates were for 5 days)
Hope that helps. (Pennsylvania, USA)

Welcome to FlyerTalk, Vacationeer. Do you (or anyone else) have any suggestions for getting rental discounts outside North America, e.g., AUS and NZ?

Thanks for the tip. I just used it for a reservation and found it to be better than the other codes I found on this site (except for the Cendant employee code, which I just cannot do). What do I need to be to qualify (left-handed, albino, a member of the international brotherhood of stone cutters, a Red Sox fan)?

Thanks for the good info.

No I ask you. Would you let your PARENTS use the ASAP code? My guess is, WHY NOT, but we all are probably a bit more savvy at managing the POTENTIAL ins and outs of using an AWD code, and having a good answer ready.

Lemme know your thoughts. It just put a 1200.00$ call up CADILLAC reservation, down to 540$

:-)

BTW, this worked FINE! Saved them nearly 700$ on the 10 day rental.
gotta LOVE it.

I'm going for spring break in kiruna, sweden. Way off the beaten path in the arctic circle with a population of a whopping 23,000. The standard rate is from any other company that'd I've checked is $120 a day, with the D005591 I'll be getting $28... would that raise eyebrowes even if it didn't show up as ID needed? I've heard 2 or 3 people in the thread mention using this code in Europe hassle free. Anyone else want to throw their experience in the pot?

Starwood Preferred Guest

Does anyone know if one has to verify their Starwood Preferred Guest status when having used the code K860600, picking up the rental car at Avis? It is the only code that I have found to be offering a decent rate in Hawaii over Christmas, and I won't be able to provide documentation of Starwood Status.

I have also tried the code D833357. Does anyone know what the story is on this code?

Thanks in advance,

J.

IIRC, Kiruna is the northernmost point on the Swedish rail system, or at least it was when I stopped there briefly traveling on my way from Narvik, the northernmost point on the Norwegian rail system, in late June of 1967. It was right around the summer solstice and there was very little night and a big party going on.

$120 to $28 is one helluva a savings, especially if you are renting for more than a day. Indeed, I don't know when I have heard of an instance when knowing the password, code, or whatever resulted in such an extraordinary discount.

Is D005591 supposed to be good beyond Europe (e.g., Australia and/or New Zealand, where we are headed in a couple of days)? Will go online and see if it brings up a lower price Down Under. Right now, with no discounts, Hertz
beats Avis and the others on a mid-size car.

Can't one determine in advance whether a code may work by trying it online or telling the CSR that this is the code that will be used? If the rate quoted on the phone or online doesn't drop, that it's a non-starter, right, since it isn't likely to work later at the rental site. If the rate does drop when the code is entered online or given to the CSR, then there is only the question of whether one will be required to present identification or answer questions at time of rental, I imagine.

(Still haven't looked for an Avis rate for myself with these codes, but will later. Does anyone know any that are definitely good in AU and NZ?)

Yes. What you wrote is true.

I am well aware that both of the mentioned codes 'work' in Hawaii.

The question remains: Is it necessary to provide some sort of verification that one is entitled to use the said code (ie:Starwood Preferred Status Card) with either of the said codes?
