I've tried D005297, D005298, D005291 for a reservation at CDG in late September for 3 weeks and, while all show a hefty discount, when I try to book them it says "negotiated rates apply. contact your travel coordinator..." Anyone know if this means the codes are no good anymore or if it's a temporary problem with avis.com? By the way, I tried booking with no AWD and it gave me the same message, even for the regular leisure rate. However, when I use P400000 I get a lesser reduction but it will let me go ahead and book it. Strange.

This rate, by the way, lowered the best rate I was able to find by another $5 per day. I'm not going to sweat it though, and keep the rate I have, but was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this?

Interested in your comments Norodnik on Avis D005297

Just out of interest, I checked the T&C's and it made no reference to using an AWD at all (whether valid or not). I also had a brief look at the website and all I found was some instruction saying to put in an AWD code if you have one (again, did not mention whether valid or not)

Where does it say about entitlement and proof or otherwise?

Will post back after May 10th as to whether I had any hassle with the above.

Hi Norodnik:

How was your trip and the use of coupon D005297? I booked it for my trip to Ireland in October and it is a big savings. Really want to hear your ease of use (?) of that coupon. Please post back.

Successfully used A153700 for a Thu-Sun weekend rental in Guam. Booked through main avis.com site. Base rate went from $135 to $106 incl. CDW and TP. No ID requested. The car was a worn out Mitsubishi Mirage with 40k on the clock though, but blended in well with the local cars... I know a Hawaiian rental is half as much, but not much choice in Guam. Local agencies were asking $35 a day.

Does anyone know what code B999000 is from? It gave me some excellent rates in Las Vegas. Would like to know where it came from in case anyone asks.

Robert

Gave me a caddy in Vegas for 50.00 for a 2 day rental...

Forget that one. After it confirmed price it gave me an error message as an invalid code!!!

JackBauer Aug 19, 2005 8:28 pm

What is the best code for Canada, and If i use the 153700 is it valid for age 21-25?

Does anyone have a rate code that I code use? I'm looking to rent a vehicle for 1 day in December, from Vegas to LA.

Many thanks

Interestingly, there was a sign posted that Canadian residents are not allowed by Canadian customs to drive into Canada with a US-plated rental car. Talk about a police state.

May I ask what code is this? It gave quite a substantial discount..

Umm....Have you read the rest of the thread??
Have you tried any of the codes yet??
Laziness will get you nowhere.

I have a perfect code. It gives you almost 50% off a one way rental from LAS to LAX, and bonus miles. But I already posted it. Go find it.

Thanks for the info. I'll look it up again. By any chance, does Avis charge a one way rental drop off fee? I've seen on their webpage that they do not include such a charge, and was wondering if it was already incorporated.

I've looked, but got overwhelmed by the sheer number of codes available. I was wondering why would some rates be ridiculously low that it sounded a bell in my head.

Anyway, this forum is very useful! :D

ezmonee Aug 30, 2005 8:15 pm

avis does charge one way fees. but the code I posted does not charge owf at all, gives you like 100 miles per day, plus a 500 mile bonus and is at least 50% off. Heres a hint, its from motorola *hint hint*

Hm.. I've looked through the rate codes and found it informative.
Ezmonee, can I clarify some issues with you? Think I'll drop you a pm! Pls check.

cardesigner2000 Aug 30, 2005 10:50 pm

French rentals up to 20% discount

For rentals in France I used E806868 and French residency to get 20% off weekend rates or 10% off other rates including some international. The code is good for FNAC card members (conditions say membership card should be presented.) FNAC is a large department store selling books/cds/electronics. Rate includes CDW and TP.

I just tried booking a car in MAD using B999000. The website gave me an error, saying "The Avis Worldwide Discount (AWD) number you have entered cannot be found in our records."

I called the 800#, and when I went to reserve, the phone agent said that the computer told her that the AWD # is for Chairmen only (whatever that means), and that my name didn't match the list of people who can use this AWD.
Has that ever happened to anybody?
Have other people had luck using AWD B999000 internationally w/no problems?

Does anyone know what this code is for ? It got me a great rate on a premium vehicle ^ , however it caused some sort of glitch with my Preferred profile. When I picked up the car, the agent had to force the rate or something and the final bill shows my old AWD number  The rate was still good though, just not sure if I'll have trouble using it in the future.

PointsMeanPrizes Sep 2, 2005 4:41 pm

I have posted this question over in the BAEC forum and was pointed here. After spending hours reading every one of the 18 pages of posts I have a good list of codes which give excellent discounts.
My problem is I want to make 2 one way rentals in the UK and when I add the code they charge an extra £40 which makes it more than the rate I get over the phone (a leisure rate for use to and from the airport).
I looked for ezmonee's post with the Motorolla code but had no luck with any code listed.
Can anyone else help me?

Just to be a help to others if this turns out best for one way rentals;

If you call the telephone booking line in the UK and ask for the one way holiday rates to and from the airport they waive the one way fee so a £90 rental drops to only £55.

Joe Airman Sep 2, 2005 6:58 pm

Ok, I see that the Wizard number isin't what gets you a great rate - it's the AWD number on file with it.

I tried a bunch of AWD numbers found in this thread for a test booking next week. 1 day rental (24 hours) standard size car from OAK. Country of residence was Canada. This was a week-day rental (not weekend).

Basic rate (no number) was $54. My number was the only one that gave $37.25 (30% discount off basic rate). A153700 was the only one that gave $29.

I think numbers that end in 00 or 000 are more "powerful" than others. These numbers must be geared for specific locations, or weekend vs weekday, or for special events in specific cities and may give better discounts when applied to the situation they were designed for.

Anyways, I guess I'm happy that my corporate AWD seems to be pretty good compared to these.

It's wierd that some numbers give rates way beyond the basic rate (ie no-number) of $54.

Are there even any coupons for weekday rentals?

I am currently considering using the "citigroup Leisure travel services" code but it is incompatable with my wizard number (I am preferred select). Will this hurt my chances of getting an upgrade?

ezmonee Sep 5, 2005 6:54 pm

actually the awd numbers only point to accounts. perfect example.

AAA is a999900
a999901
a999902 and so on and so forth. Each different number is a different club for bookkeeping purposes. Although it is POSSIBLE that the awd number single digits might give better rates than others, its highly unlikely.

Another example is the armed forces/military govt code.
a555500

Many from norfolk virginia use a555513 but its the same exact discount as a person from pearl harbor at a555590

I used the Citigroup code A074800 to get a rate that was much lower than B999000 (but not as low as the employee rate of course) and substantially lower than the next best rate I have.

What exactly is A074800? Does ID need to be shown?

An extra with discount codes

You can combine discount codes with certain other promotions. Sellers on ebay are selling vouchers for a free tank of gas........ I got one for 99 cents ( and 50 cents shipping ). At that time it saved me $35. I just got another one for our next trip and the way gas prices are going, who knows how big the savings will be. :) :)

but buyer beware, some coupon vouchers require you to use specific awd codes.

otherwise its a good idea at todays prices.
