ASAP code

Is that the ASAP (Amateur Sports Assistance Program) code? I don't remember the code, but I used it with great success for a rental in Paris last year. I got a great little Opel of 9 days (unlimited miles) for about $306 and there was absolutely no question about the code. Whoever posted it said that anybody could use the code and for every 15 or 20 times it was used, a free day of rental would be provided to travelling amateur athletes such as those preparing for Olympic trials. A big thank you to whoever posted that code.

Well.. I guess I'll start it off. My most reliable for consistantly low rates, unlimited miles, free LDW, and no hassle is still L093590.

Picked up a flyer from a bank counter -- Michigan USA (passing 'em out like candy):

Tried this for Jul. 15th for two days at DEN, and it said "This coupon cannot be used on these dates." :(

I just tried it for DEN July 7-12 and both worked. But not a real bargain. :( In fact the savings for the cheapest car was $5 under the walk-in rate. :td:

A113400 State of FL employee rate-->EXCELLENT RATE!!

Got a great rate for SLC over 4th of July weekend with this one. It seemed to knock out some of the taxes/fees too. I am not sure if they will ask for ID when I attempt to pick the car up though. Any experiences with this one?

CarNut Jun 30, 2005 7:54 am

Has anyone tried using A153700- Avis Employee Rate? This was BY FAR the lowest rate I could find for 10 days in FLL Aug 26 - Sept 3. But I'm really nervous about using it in case they ask for some form of ID or proof.

Thanks!

Don't do it....This code has been discussed over and over again on this site. I believe that there has only been 1 person that say's he got away with it. The code requires a letter from your Avis Manager on Avis stationary, verifying that you are an Avis employee. I'd try almost any other code except this one. It's almost a guaranteed problem.

Kyle53719 Jul 2, 2005 12:32 pm

There has been a lot of talk about AWD#B999000 and how it offers one of the lowest rentals at Avis. However, some have said it causes a lot of problems at the desk. Is this code for Avis Employees, or is it part of some benefit through another program. I know I have read that some FTers have referred the code to some Chairman's Club. I have heard people using the code to get the rate quote, but not being able to confirm their reservation because they are "not eligible" for the code at Avis' website. I was able to confirm it, but cancelled the reservation to avoid problems. Can anyone shed some more light on this code? Thanks in advance!

Yes, that AWD has been reported before. I believe our ozstamps reported it first. I've had inconsistent results with it as with all AWDs. I wish someone would clue us in as to the details of how the AWDs work.

But -- do I risk it?

You can try and let me know if they harass you :p . I am under the impression that it might be an employee discount AWD, but not sure. I would love to use it, but would not like to gamble and pay a significantly higher rate.

This code has also been discussed over and over again. It is Chairman's club and I don't recall anyone ever saying they got away with using it. Most people report that the reservation cannot be confirmed in the final stages. If anyone ever get's away with using it, it would be nice to hear from them, but I doubt we ever will.

Bob1008, what is the Chairman's Club? The discount coincides, and sometimes even beats, the Avis Employee Discount. I was able to book it, but cancelled the reservation for fear of being questioned at the desk. I have Citi's Chairman Card, but I don't think this is a benefit of my card membership.

on-line coupons?

As I live outside of the US I do not have access to paper coupons. Does anyone know of a source of on-line coupons, particularly a free week-end day coupon for Avis in Canada during October? Or if you happen to have an extra paper coupon you could spare, please let me know. Thank you.

The A074800 series suggested only gave about 10% on some vehicles for me in Vegas.
Has anyone EVER come up with a code that gives ANY kind of online discount in Puerto Vallarta? AA used to but not anymore. TIA

interesting, it gives near 50% off in San Antonio, depending on time of year.

A153700 does work

A153700 does work...internationally. I have used it many times. Instead of avis.com use www.avisworld.com. When making a reservation always use the country in which the rental takes place as your home of record.

Overseas AVIS locations are not as uptight and anal as the US. :p

Dmarsh11 Jul 17, 2005 2:27 pm

I checked that code as instructed and got a Dec17-29 rate of $251 USD, whether or not my residence was Canada or Mexico. If I used the same code on Avis.Com, and Canada residence I got $172 USD, Both rates were for the 12 days, car class "A". Any comments?

Code for One-Way Rentals?

Have been having a difficult time locating a code that would be usefull for a one-way rental. Trying to get a car (SUV) in late-September from Buffalo, NY to Washington, DC (IAD), and I am not having much luck. Some of the AWD, such as the aforementioned A074800 series, give a great rate, but include 0 miles for the rental. Others (such as my Costco or AAA AWD's) include the miles, but I am still looking at $350 or more for a 3 day rental. Any ideas?

SpaceCoastBill Jul 18, 2005 9:47 pm

I keep trying all of the codes I come across, but the America West Flightfund partner number K020500 keeps getting great rates.

I had an accident in Germany..Car hit me when parked and took off. My Visa
covered the accident. I had filed a police report (required) and AVIS took my Visa Number and sent an estimate of repair to me in the USA and charged the damage to the VISA card. Visa had sent me the claim forms WHEN I CALLED AND REQUESTED THEM, I sent them back and they sent me a check
within 10 days which I used to pay what Avis had charged to my card.

ADW CODE ??? NO ONE EVER ASKED FOR IT.. NOT AVIS (IT WAS ON THE RENTAL AGREEMENT) AND NOT VISA OR THEIR INSURANCE. WHY WOULD THE ADW CODE HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE ACCIDENT ?

ezmonee Jul 22, 2005 12:38 am

some awd codes have Loss Damage Waiver complementary.

you wouldnt even need to contact visa in that case.

L093590 Works Fine in Skagway, Alaska

Bob1008's L093590 worked well recently in Skagway, Alaska, where Avis is the only "name" agency. A $72 daily rate became $52, and there were no questions. In fact, the AWD number did not even appear on any of the documents printed at the location, although I of course entered the number on the on line reservation.

Interestingly, there was a sign posted that Canadian residents are not allowed by Canadian customs to drive into Canada with a US-plated rental car. Talk about a police state.

AWD with CDW

aljacket Jul 28, 2005 5:08 am

Downside to this is: Sure, the CDW is complementary until you need it. Avis insurer does not have to pay if you were not actually initialed to the coverage.

Your better bet is to rent with a credit card that includes CDW (and most do).

Great info. Question, is this a corp rate? In otherwords, this rate is avail for employees only and I may be asked for id?
This rate, by the way, lowered the best rate I was able to find by another $5 per day. I'm not going to sweat it though, and keep the rate I have, but was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this?

Holy Smokes. P400000 gives me the best rate (by $40, 8 day rental). Next best is B999000, then a slew of AWDs that "match" the lowest rate (no AWD). It always amazes me that several AWDs that I try have rates that are HIGHER than the no AWD rate.
