If my Quidco tracks through as well, its a very, very good deal. |
I will need to rent a car at SFO for 3 weeks. Using a couple of standard AWDs I've had luck with in the past gives me the best rate of $390 for a compact vehicle. Any tips on possibly getting a lower one?
|
Sounds like a great price for SFO already

A buddy of mine who works at a large tech firm gave me his Wizard number - rentals I am seeing with it come at a serious discount. But it does also bring up his name when I search for cars. I know the chances of being asked to verify employment are hit and miss, however if his name is linked should I still proceed using it? Just comparing his code to my Amex Travel is close to $1k savings for the 10 days I'm looking to rent!
EDIT: I was able to find the code associated with the company, and use that on search without his Wiz number associated and got the same rates. You can correct me if this is the wrong approach. Thanks! |

There used to be a weekend $20 off rental that is going to expire in 3 days. Anyone knows if it is being replaced? I rent weekends only. Code was MUGA083.
Some more that I use. I never get asked for IDs. A047900 if paying with Amex. A631800 B270898 C846790 A442100 A440000 C062090 T757205 A108326 A359811 A108396 |

Should I go with that one? Thanks Mike |

If you are able to book at the lower rate and you don't have to pre-pay, just go ahead and then track the rental for lower rates at autoslash.com/track and we'll let you know if we find a better deal. |
Did Avis change the AWD numbers recently? The codes I used to use still show the same prices as before, but when I go to book I get an error message. The rate code you entered requires an Avis World Wide Discount (AWD) number. Please go back and enter your AWD number or remove the rate code you entered.
Why does it display the prices under my AWD, the AWD I've been using for at least 15 years now, but then it won't let me book it? |

Not a change in the AWDs, but changes in their website coding. IIRC (having made the adjustment several months ago) if you log in, add the AWD to your profile, and then make the reservation, you'll be able to book the rez.

I had a one-day rental in the Netherlands under the A515100 code for the locally very low rate of 33 eur/day. It turned out that the 200 mi included (and confirmed to me) were 200km - luckily this wasn't an issue for me. However, the insurance co-pay was 15,000 eur for this rate - up from 700 eur normally. Not a good thing.
Leading me to ask: are there any codes that include full insurance + all risk waver for renting with avis in the Netherlands against a good rate? |

You do realize that A515100 is a discount code for employees of Hewlett Packard right? It doesn't matter whether the insurance co-pay (excess) is 700 EUR or 15,000 EUR because if you have an accident and you try to use the insurance included with that discount code, the first thing you are going to be asked is to prove you work for HP. If you cannot show that you do, then the insurance coverage is likely to be null and void and you will be responsible for the full amount of any damage you caused. Just want you to be aware of the risks.

I have not personally known anyone who was in this situation but there are a few FT threads on this topic:
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hert...-employer.html https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hert...-accident.html (I'm sure there are plenty more) Bottom line, do you really want to find out after you've totaled a $30K+ car? |
Not that I'm disagreeing with you, but in everything I've seen on FT, there's been nothing but conjecture and no definitive "this happened to me, this is what resulted". The second thread would have been the one I'm talking about, except OP disappeared without posting any resolution or final outcome.

It's clear that spork thinks using some random corp code with LDW absolves him of all responsibility for damage. I guess we both agree that it may or may not, but it is not without risk. Spork will need to make his own determination as to whether the risks are worth it based on how much he is saving. A better approach is probably to get a CC that offers LDW coverage for free, but that's just my opinion. |

Quite often your accidents involve maybe Rolls-Royces? What sort of accidents are you getting in? :D
|
These risks are not worth it - and I agree that it was an unwise decision. I was under the impression it was a Deloitte code - which for my personal situation would've been a lot easier to justify and less random ;)
Also I was going to rent a mini-class where the total damage would not have exceeded 10k in the first place. Are there any codes - this may or may not include CORP codes - that include full LDW for rental agreements in The Netherlands? |

I found two possible solutions: 1) get a yearly rental-car insurance (around 100 euros a year, covering any number of rental agreements) that provides super-coverage for the 600-1500 euro co-pay and some extras (window damage), e.g. at https://www.huurautoverzekering.com/. 2) get a credit card that offers extra rental car insurance that covers the deductible I opted for #2 since I'm welcoming the upgrade in my cc for other reasons too, and the yearly cost was less for my specific needs. My new cc doesn't fully eliminate the deductible, but it decreases it by 500 eur - good enough for me. |
Quick question here! I'm looking to use a discount code for a booking at YVR (Vancouver) & I'm a British citizen. When booking, must I ensure my reservation has CDW? Or can I just do that with an external provider with no issue?
Thanks! :D |
You can get insurance anywhere you like (3rd party, credit card that will cover you, etc). The insurance through the rental company is always optional at least in the US and Canada.

Where did the $30 off weekly coupon go that I would use with the Costco AWD 108326 and its companion $30 off weekly coupon with the AARP AWD A359807? Both coupons expired 3/31/2017. It looks like Avis replaced those with (MUGA076 - $25 off minimum $175 base rate and MUGA063 - $15 off minimum $125 base rate). Are there other coupons that will give the $30 weekly discount? |
I have been using AWD X762674 it says it gets up to 50% off. I didn't quite get 50% off but it does discount significantly. It's been my go to number, works every time with no hassle.

not sure where this code is from, I tried it on a couple reservations.. took about 10% off the standard rate on AVIS.com |

I almost want to fly there JUST to get this deal! nice deal, hopefully, it will ACTUALLY be a 7 series.
|
MUGA016 - $75 off a minimum base time and mileage spend of $600. Saw it on Costco Travel, but tried with a few other AWDs, and it worked.

The AWD is N744100 - British Airways Executive Club Blue member.
|
AWD # Z921610. Hopefully this is a big saver
