I have been quite successful in purchasing GC at Residence Inn properties - I just called two of the local hotels in Northern NJ and they both answered in the affirmative that they had physical gift cards available to purchase. I have bought GC with each Amex Marriott offer I have received and too date, have always received the stated credit. Since I have an upcoming stay at a Marriott, I will not be purchasing a gift card this time to utilize the bonus offer.

I have yet to find one. I walked from one Marriott property to another in San Francisco last summer--none of them had it. I'm staying at a R.I. in New York next month--I'll ask there.

For people who have luck with Marriott gift cards, have any of you tried using them outside the USA? About the only time I use Marriott, besides rewards stays is in Toronto.

Offer valid only on room rate and room charges at participating Marriott Bonvoy® properties in the U.S. and U.S. territories, the Caribbean, Canada and Mexico

I'm happy because this is the second time I've gotten this offer on my card this year!

Yes, for using the offer, so buying a card at a US property will trigger the offer. Once you have the card, allegedly you can use it outside the US. There is a thread in the Marriott forum discussing experiences doing so. I think of margarita girl in particular as having expertise. It seems often very challenging but some do manage it.

Yeah but the language "room rate and room charges" could be used to exclude gift card purchases if you are not already staying at a Marriott. YMMV as always.

It is hard everywhere on earth to find people who know how to use the gift cards, last attempts at trying to use them were in NYC, nobody had any idea how to use them. Porto, Portugal, no problem…….very hit and miss, and mostly miss in my experience

Got $60 off $300 at Hyatt Regency. Do most of them sell gift cards?

The Hyatt offer $60/$300 expires 7/18/22 and is only good at HYATT REGENCY hotels in the US/US Territories. Does not include gift cards, restaurants and other charges.

Should not have issues if using it in Canada.

Agree. Sometimes the properties refuse to follow the rule. Sometimes the property's system not able to access the GC processing platform. If it is the latter, calling the help desk can solve the issues but it depends on how hard the GM is willing to try. The latter can even happen at domestic properties from personal experiences.

That is the reason why the GC must be purchased from a property as the transaction is billed from the property, no difference from how you pay the folio.

I just noticed in this T's and C's " Excludes gift card purchases"

That seems pretty clear that you won't get the credit. I would guess that they put those words in there because they can tell the difference between a gift card purchase and anything else on a folio.

In any case I'm booked for a $270 work stay for next week so will happily accept the $50.

I have purchased gift cards at Residence Inns and at Ritz Carlton. In every case, it has coded to get the rebate. I'll never promise to anyone else that their experience would mirror mine, but I was happy.

I think the language is included because Marriott gift cards are sold online: https://wwws-usa2.givex.com/cws4.0/marriottcons/ , but note that this is an outsourced site operated by a giftcard specialist. As discussed previously in the thread, Marriott gift cards purchased at a property reliably qualify.

Success story posted on this thread, even though it is for the Ritz offer, but they should work the same. Yes, GC bought at a Ritz property.

The hard part is to find a property still sells physical GC, especially after Pandemic.

Spend $300 get $60 back (and various similar offers) - Amex sync Marriott offer
