Trick is picking flights that aren't full of business travelers and doing it in the dot or t-whatever your limit is.

You're responding to a chain of posts about upgrades to PY at the gate, so R space is technically irrelevant

Whether they should place all Y to J eUp waitlists ahead of Y to PY waitlists ... I don't think either side will win an argument there

This could be solved by allowing one to be placed on both eUp waitlists. That would also allow the waitlistee to decide if they want PY if J falls thru. I've witnessed people at the gate upset that eups were used for PY, and trying to get back into their original Y seat that now had been given to someone else.

I did check the thread topic before hitting reply
I agree the cow here, while I am and likely never will be SE if anyone fails to clear into J and there are PY seats left they should take status into account.

Process PY to J, then Y to J. If anyone failed to clear Y to J, add them to the Y to PY list, and sort accordingly.

I had a Latitude FP booking on a flight for this week. Since J was wide open, I opted not to bother with an eUpgrade.
Last week, I IKK'd a friend on that same flight, and it dropped to R4 (i.e. wide open in J).
I just did my complimentary FP upgrade, causing it to go from J1 to J0.
It's amazing how a flight with ample R space can so quickly fill up.

But yeah, could've also been an R0 flight that goes R9 at T-24
