Actually, RM = Revenue Management (anything related to filing of fares, allocation of fare class availability, releasing upgrade and award space, clearing pax off the upgrade list before the day of departure etc.)

I think "those who want to fly in J..." vary dramatically by route.
There are at least a couple of us who would not pay cash or upgrade credits for even a domestic or TB transcon. I know what I get on those flights and I have my own determination of the value proposition.
Also, there are those who would prefer to use their upgrades for longer routes or for travel with spouse/partner, whatever.
As for paying for J on TB, I'm perfectly happy paying AA $725 CAD RT for J on the non-stop YYZ-MIA (which is the rate I'm seeing from now on out for a number of months).
AC rouge, OTOH, sits at $1,321.
For those who want to accumulate AC miles towards whatever their goal is (AQM, MM), feel free to pay the $1,321.
My guess is AC has determined that there are just enough people will to pay for the front of the rouge bus to MIA, for e.g. either with cash or upgrades, that they do not see AA non-stop - or others with one-stop - as viable competition.

I'm not sure why you're surprised. It doesn't exactly look wide open in J.
As SE, you may get cleared off the waitlist well before the flight.

AC 750 on May 12 had 10 of 16 seats occupied by upgrades.
I booked IKK 2 hours prior to departure.
Yet AC 739 tomorrow (May 14) is J9 P8 R0.
The upgrade lists have sure made the R games more interesting

Can anyone pull up the fare bucket availability for AC607 and AC785 on June 16th? I know its a month away, but it seems a little odd that AC website is already showing R=0 for both flights when previewing upgrade availability.

Thanks. Looks like the AC website isn't showing upgrade availability correctly. Hoping these flights don't fill up too much.

AC 739 YYZ-SFO departed full in Y and with 2 empties in J today.
It was J8 R7 Y0 when I woke up (R0 when I went to bed).
Worked out well for me, but wow. I've been 10th for 1 seat on this flight before the eUp devaluation.
