Actually, RM = Revenue Management (anything related to filing of fares, allocation of fare class availability, releasing upgrade and award space, clearing pax off the upgrade list before the day of departure etc.)

Also, there are those who would prefer to use their upgrades for longer routes or for travel with spouse/partner, whatever.

As for paying for J on TB, I'm perfectly happy paying AA $725 CAD RT for J on the non-stop YYZ-MIA (which is the rate I'm seeing from now on out for a number of months).

AC rouge, OTOH, sits at $1,321.

For those who want to accumulate AC miles towards whatever their goal is (AQM, MM), feel free to pay the $1,321.

My guess is AC has determined that there are just enough people will to pay for the front of the rouge bus to MIA, for e.g. either with cash or upgrades, that they do not see AA non-stop - or others with one-stop - as viable competition.
I just bought YYZ-LAX one-way on UA in P for C$682 all-in. This is less than half the price of lowest business class fare ($1,577) demanded by AC on its A321, or less than $200 difference on Flex fare ($510) departing at about the same time. My UA flight arrives 2 hours later than AC because of the transit connection at ORD. Admittedly, UA is not direct non-stop but it is not worth the premium to fly AC. Unlike AA or DL, UA offers access to United Club when flying business/domestic F transborder at ORD and the MLL at YYZ.

I'm not sure why you're surprised. It doesn't exactly look wide open in J.

As SE, you may get cleared off the waitlist well before the flight.

AC 750 on May 12 had 10 of 16 seats occupied by upgrades.

I booked IKK 2 hours prior to departure.

Yet AC 739 tomorrow (May 14) is J9 P8 R0.

The upgrade lists have sure made the R games more interesting

Can anyone pull up the fare bucket availability for AC607 and AC785 on June 16th? I know its a month away, but it seems a little odd that AC website is already showing R=0 for both flights when previewing upgrade availability.

Thanks. Looks like the AC website isn't showing upgrade availability correctly. Hoping these flights don't fill up too much.

Or it could be that ExpertFlyer sees phantom space (rare but not impossible). Hope all goes well for your trip.

AC 739 YYZ-SFO departed full in Y and with 2 empties in J today.

It was J8 R7 Y0 when I woke up (R0 when I went to bed).

Worked out well for me, but wow. I've been 10th for 1 seat on this flight before the eUp devaluation.

On AC 91 tonight. Leaving with 9 empty seats in J. Looking at the app, no one requested an upgrade. PY has one seat open. No one requested an upgrade to PY either.

If anyone knows anyone in J on AC56 tomorrow, I'd pay good money for you to pull a Tonya Harding. Stupid J0.

(joking of course, to the RCHHMP)

Did you check before boarding?

Once you board, you drop off the list.
