I take it you're #2 on the list?

Can you clarify what you mean by "11 according to EF"?

Thats what I meant. J=9. But the seat map showed 11 empty seats. I assume they were empty since in J AC assigns a seat even if upg which you can then change.
I am sure I will be corrected if my assumption was incorrect.
I did get upgraded on the flight so not an issue, the questions are so I can be better informed for future decisions.

Your assumption is incorrect. It is definitely possible to book an AC J ticket without selected a seat (though maybe not through AC.com).

However, in this case, the upgrade list agreed with the number 11, so your conclusion was correct.

Yeah CWT and BCD and most other (I assume) companies seem to book sears without assigning one.

AC302 May 2, booked on an Aeroplan ticket in business class (connecting on Swiss next day to Zurich in J), but seated in economy on the AC leg.

Currently J9 C9 D9 Z9 P9 R9 Y9 B9 M9 U9 H9 Q9 V9 W9 G9 S9 T0 L0 A0 K0

I assume I bucket is lower priority than R, what's the chances I'd be able to get an upgrade at the gate to business? Rest of family is confirmed in I at the moment.
