Talked to Agent today

I just finished talking to an agent at the 1K line and asked her if she knew a way to get me some EQM's so that I make 1K next year. She told me about the 5000 EQM's that I could get with a Chase Platinum card after the first purchase. She also said that the double EQM's program might be another way. I asked her if it's happening this year and she said that it happens every year and she did not hear anything to the contrary that it wouldn't happen this year. As a matter of fact, she sounded pretty confident that an e-mail would be sent out this week.

While on the subject, any other suggestions on how to get appx. 20,000 more EQM's this year?

Short of DEQM and the Visa card all I can think of is flying.

And that is exactly WHY they need to kill this thing, people have grown to expect they can not fly 100K yet still get all the benefits of 1K through this program.

My 0.02 that agent knows no more than we do with regards to if it will happen this year and simply expects that it will because it has in the past.

:D

I do not need the DEQMs this year even though I made use of it the first time I needed to get 1P. Since then, been 1K and never relied on the DEQM. People will be delusional that they have 60k EQMs and another $1500 RT to SIN will get them to 1K.

I, for one, hopes that UA does not have it this year

without DEQM, There is no way to keep my 1K for next year:(

Well it might be expensive, but you could do 9 trips from NYC-SFO/LAX. One each weekend. Are you going on any business trips, if so move them to UA. There is no cannot, there is only DO!

DO you want your 1K status?

Could you have flown more earlier in the year? There is Thanksgiving and Xmas to do mileage runs.

I guess my advice is never to hope for DEQM promotion

no more business trip this year.

I had 2 trips canceled earlier this year, one to PEK, one to AKL. It has been lots of changes this year, so my flying plan changed lot too.

UA might not do it this year so people don't expect it all the time, and also to track revenue comparisons - ie, besides the revenue they get from just the registration fee, how much extra income can they track due to people taking extra flights because of the promo. If someone can't get to whatever 1K or 1P w/o the promo, no reason to take unnecessary flights. So if they see a dig significant enough, they might bring it back. But then again, if their #s hold strong they might not care.

Cheers.

Good to know. My job sends me everywhere but overseas! Short hops are my lifeblood, and I'll be at 98 segments without the double (I could always throw a few extra segments on a BOS-IAD run, I guess.....):D

So....it would be prident not to rely on the Double EQM promotion....that said....

If I take a flight on Swiss across the Atlantic, do I get EQM's. I realize that I don't get the double "redeemable" mile bonus that I would get on Lufthansa, but if I could at least get some EQM's, I could justify the price for a business ticket on Swiss.

BTW, do I get 125% or 150% EQM's for flying Business class on Swiss?
