I'll do you one better. I get treated better on the AA Platinum line than I do on the GS line. And I have a few witnesses of that on my ALK trip (speakerphones are great...).

I'm gald they aren't doing Double EQM again this year. Very glad.

And happy that my 60k BIS was enough to get 1K again this year! :D ^

1P the last 3 years, 1K this year! ^ I never took advantage of the DEQM anyway.

On track to make it to about 130k this year... The DEQM bonus might have helped me get 2 more SWU but I doubt I'd pay the price for it. I'd rather use CC.

Did we get an official announcement on this yet? Not "a friend of a F/A who's a friend of a VP told me..."

Fair enough folks, I agree that the call centers have treated me better as a general member at AA than as a 1K on UA... good point.

I doubt we'll get anything "official," but rather just hearing from agents about the internal email. I highly doubt they'll make a press release about it or anything.

I agree. A press release saying nothing is happening would be a little odd.

I cannot recall United ever issuing a press release telling clients they are NOT doing something.

United's call entirely. They for thier own reasons have not offered the deal year. End of story.

Agree with this and other posters a few posts above:

I have seen simlar people ask this .... I don't get it? Kind of like a local car dealer who always has a Presidents/Valentines/Spring Sales event and for one year, they decide not to do it..... do they need to advertise.... "hey were not having a sale/promotion this year"?

One one level, you are totally right. On another, it's UA, so odd is not so odd.

I was waiting for a credible source.

But if they ever did, you can bet the word enhancement would be utilized liberally. ;)

Is it really that good at AA? I have never called AA so I won't know. Maybe we need to make noise and ask the UA execs to call United 1K and AA EXP desks and hear for themselves!

Just fired off an email to Ms. Higgins asking her what she's doing about this. Ok, I might be beating a dead horse but I wonder what "cookie cutter" answer I'll get.

You don't even have to compare the EXP desk to the 1K desk. Compare the 1K desk to the general res number at AA. When I call the 1K desk I usually get a "one time exception" for something that's perfectly routine. That's extremely annoying.

So what exactly did you ask Barbara Higgins, and why her?

UA-style is to issue bad PR's on the eve of holidays. Good Friday comes to mind.

Is she the wrong person? I thought she was responsible for customer service. I know many "enhancements" (true definition of word, not the FT version) are being planned and I was wondering what was being planned for making the 1K interface with the reps. a better one. Basically, I can choose between UA and AA for business travel and if there are no plans to improve service on UA, then maybe I should consider trying AA.

So the tone of my email was that my experience with 1K desk has been good (the truth: it is minimal since I avoid people when I can) but AA EXP & Plats who are 1K say the AA experience is far superior. Is there a plan to improve this?

Who is the right person to send to? The only other time I sent email to a UA exec, it got forwarded to the correct person so it'll eventually find it's way there I suppose.

Can someone please explain to me why they want to thin the ranks of elites? Yes, I understand they are rolling out new F and C cabins and they want to sell more of those seats BUT they have the ability to control NF and NC capacity! Why not have the DEQM promo, grab the extra revenue, allow everyone to obtain 1K/1P/2P status AND just cut back on NC and NF inventory???

What happens if the economy continues to slow, business cuts back on travel, they can't sell as many seats as they thought because of the preceeding AND the lackluster service while they simultaneously lost out on DEQM revenue and annoyed a lot of people in the process?
